Came across this on a plastic tray whilst doing a fall cleanup by my potting table. It's very tiny and growing on a piece of bark/dirt. Anyone recognize it?

It really is pretty. My guess is mold based on nothing except that was my first thought.

It is pretty! I've researched pink and white mold and fungus on google images and can't find a match or even close to one.

It has an almost crystalline look to it. I wonder if it could be a mix of a mold and a lichen? There are a number of pink lichens.

Well that was quick I just checked my email Sue, you win first prize!!!

Hi Anne,

I am fairly sure that it's a kind of Slime Mould, a group of organisms once
considered to be fungi but now known to be quite different. I can't ID the
species, but you can see a small selection of Slime Moulds on my page here:

http://www.first-nature.com/fu...

Very best wishes,

Pat

Thanks to everyone who replied. At least I can narrow it down to find the species.

Indeed! I don't think it's reached the 'slime' part yet.
