Rolling on the floor laughing @Audrey Stay dry /safe and get some sleep through the day.

I am a night owl so I do not go to bed until the birds sing. I am a vampire that does not know where my casket is hiding. I only need 4 hrs of sleep in the morning. Nobody wakes me up. nodding

A hundred bulbs is not a lot because the only big bulbs are the Hyacinths. To get a big impact I have to put 20 bulbs in a pot. I do all fragrant bulbs. I will probably end up with about 5 - 6 pots. This year I am going to include some of the flowering succulents in the pots.

I agree I am really intrigued by this idea, but I will already be crowded as is with overwintering stuff. Do you stagger the bulbs so they bloom at different times?

Audrey, I do not stagger. I plant the pots like I plant the garden.

You have early bulbs your Iris reticulata, Daffodils,

Next Tulips, Grape hyacinth,

Late tulips, Hyacinth, and this year I dug up some Lily of the valley

In each pot I have little gardens so they will bloom according to how long it takes for them to bloom coming out of their chill period.

I love my succulents but I like the fragrance of the flowers in the winter. My other flower need is helped along with my Armarylis bulbs.

Watch out for those little chipmunks. They love to eat tulips and hyacinths. They cleaned me out. They seem to leave the daffodils for last. I get two years out of them. I spent over $100 on different tulips and thought of it as an investment. Nope. only one year and then the next year only a very few, now nothing. I planted crown imperials thru out the planting bed because I heard they hate the smell and stay away. Nope, but I did get a few more years out of most. When they get hungrier, they'll eat anything. I heard of using chicken wire. It may work but I am never going to spend another $100 on tulips.

I don't think squirrels are any better, if you ask my MIL. Hilarious!

I have squirrels as well. They are suppose to put the run on chipmunks. So far, they clean up the bird seed. Had trouble with them getting into my house but fixed that. We used to have feral cats but now they are all gone. I did see one in spring but not lately. Our 6 ft. black snake is nowhere to be found as well. It's been several years for him as well.

After "playing" with making baby plants all summer, it was time to pot them up. Leaves keep falling on them, I don't want to forget/lose anything. Got these little baskets for .50 at a dollar store, (they even have holes in the bottom!) There's also a mesh of fairly big holes on the sides, so I lined the sides with landscape fabric. I can pull it out once roots establish & stick cuttings through the side holes later if I get too bored this winter.

These should look appropriate on shelves in my son's play room. LOL!

I hope you can keep your kids from touching them. I cant even stop my grown friends from touching. Usually it is the white/blue/purple ones that should not be touched that folks have the most urge to feel a bit. Other than that I would say excellent reuse and sure beats having cuttings and babes in the dreaded four inch plastic black pots during winter. nodding

TY! This is about as small as I get for pots. Anything smaller just gets blown around.

Well, I thought I was about done making new containers for the winter, but I keep finding stuff to combine for saving space. I love the way my favorite agave looks in this pot with the purple. I had it in a lone pot all by itself because it is already a super star in my opinion. As I carefully pulled it out of its pot wondering if I should leave well enough alone, I was glad I made that decision because the soil was way to wet. Hopefully it will be happy with its new room mates for the next few months.

Has everyone taken most of their containers in for the winter yet? I have been holding out for sunshine as long as I can. The grey gloominess of winter is starting to slowly seep in Crying I really really dread winter time Thumbs down

Yup, all that needs to be in is already indoors. Cold rain has been here today, and we have low to mid 30's overnight forecast starting tomorrow.

That's crazy your temps are already dropping and ours are still forecasted with lows of 50's for another week or two. I am glad you have everything tucked away and cozy. My sunroom and separate fireplace was all supposed to be installed by the 15th before(wishful thinking) I had to get everything in for the winter. I have no idea how we can get all this done with a jungle in the way. Grumbling

We were at 91F during the day in Halloween..and after that, we got our first rain in Fall. I let my plants enjoy that first rain, then allowed them to dry out a day after a bit, then started bringing them in. Glad I did, today's rain was quite cold. In between breaks in the rain, been adding some pumice and chicken grit on some of the containers outside. It was so nice to see the sun a bit at around 3pm. I will try to repot one of my Aeoniums so it will have more space, always fun seeing them wake up now.

Hope you can start move in day soon!

On the flipside, it is beginning to be nap time for some of the succulents, so less watering chore Smiling

Gorgeous Audrey.

I am still bringing in plants. I start with my tropicals first so most of my succulents are still outside. We had one scary night at 28F and I did a mad dash of covering up because we were going back up into the 70s day time and 50s night so I am letting them get as much outside time as possible.

If I can hold off until Dec it will be better. I have some combo pots done I have to post them. Will get to that this weekend.

Cinta, I'm following your lead and letting my succulents get as much sun as possible, for a change. Even my rhipsalis, epis, and christmas cactus all all still outside, under the eaves on my front and back stoops. I usually have my BOP and clivias in the garage by now, but they are still outside. It looks like we will be having frost warnings starting Sunday night. I have my frost cloths ready to cover the succulents up quickly. All other plants will come either in the house or the garage. Thumbs up

I showed this basket 11/1 but today I snipped holes in the side and added Portulaca cuttings. I also added a tall piece of Senecio crassissimus. I didn't think the whole plant would stay upright with that taller, older section still attached.

And put this together with plants that had spent the summer in the ground. The bottom has a piece of landscape fabric. The sides are lined with window screen. Over the next week, I'm going to snip holes in 2 sides and fill them with smaller plants that are still in the ground.
