Getting too chilly for the Brugmansia tonight so had to bring him in. Put him in our bedroom. WOW...he didn't look THAT big outside!

I think I would be planning to do some cutting after she finishes blooming, make it easier to handle indoors, what Brug. is it.

I was wondering about cutting it...but it just started blooming! Wouldn't that set it back again? It just y-ed last fall.

That pot has 5 seeds I bought off of e-bay. They're a Jacayna x Shameless cross.

Noooooo....! After it finishes blooming, you may want to trim it, but take your cuttings above the "Y." Are there five plants in one pot? It's going to get pretty crowded in there. After the blooming is over, if there are five plants in one pot, you might think about separating them into their own individual pots. Maybe in early spring, at the latest.

I'm duly impressed that they are already so large and healthy grown from seeds.
Now with all that said, you're the mama and you know best. Don't cut them back if you don't want, but if you wake up one morning with something pinning your arms down that smells like baby powder, well we told you so.

I agree with Bubbles. 5 separate plants in 1 pot is too much. Brugs have a large root system and they are gonna get real crowded. Just a thought.

BTW - kudos on growing such handsome plants from seed. Sorry the weather caught up with you. I will be in the same boat in about 3 or 4 weeks at most.

I'm looking forward to cooler weather we get are best growth period here and its fun to start new cuttings. Cooler weather here is like christmas!! They bloom awesome in Florida in the winter they bloom during the summer too but not like winter. The crazy things we put our selfs through for plants but its well worth it

@mkb136 I agree! During winter, when it's rainy and miserable here, I can lift the side of my hoop house and sniff that distictive brugmansia air. Nothing like it when they bloom unexpectedly in the cold drear of winter.
