Ken I know you know I am cheap but I am not 12.99 cheap. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

It really is more expensive for me because it is just a summer plant. I have paid a lot more for bushes and trees for my landscape but not for a one season plant for such a short time of enjoyment.

I will have to store it for the winter. That is 8 months of babying a plant so it survives until I can take it outside for the summer. Nope no high price summer plants on my patio.

With so little chlorophyll it is doubtful that plant is going to live at all much less through the winter. There did not appear to be any green in a significant portion of the veins.

Sometimes I use Ebay the other way around, if I find the plant for sale there, and the seller info is there providing further links to their actual separate online site, then I go further to research about them and what other plants they have. It often happens, I start with Ebay and I end up with a different plant from same seller.

I have done that as well. The Sellers appreciate it as well as they make more money since no Ebay commission.

And yes, some sellers have far more available that is not listed on Ebay.

I always do a lot of research on a seller, unless I already have dealt with them.

I agree Good grief. I tend to do a lot of shopping at the bargain racks at Lowes, etc. Today I got a 20 $ viburnum for 3 $. Would never have paid the 20.

plantladylin said:I've never bought anything on Ebay; years ago I bid on something that I really, really wanted and it got down to within a couple of seconds when I was outbid ... I was so disappointed that I never bid on anything again and whatever the item was it must not have been that important because I can't even remember what it was! Rolling on the floor laughing Nowadays a lot of e-bay sellers have the Buy It Now option but I haven't even looked at e-bay in a long time.

I almost always Buy it Now. I recently Bid on an item and my Max bid was exceeded by someone else. They now have this feature. Say an item is 5 $. You can place a max bid of 10 but it will accept your bid marked up to 5.50 until you are outbid.

What happened to you was likely a "sharpshooter". They wait or use software to wait til the last few seconds and then outbid you.

One of the few auctions I ever used was to buy a 19 1/2 foot Bayliner boat. It was close so I drove and looked it over. Had that not been the case - no way I would have bid. I had and enjoyed it for 6 years while my daughter was young. I sold it when she was 14.

I don't buy much on e-bay, but after reading the threads on here and DG, I always do the "buy it now" option. Some may enjoy those bidding wars, but I can't see paying more than the object is worth just to say " I won"!

I quit listing anything I have as a "bid-item" a year ago. Everything is now listed as a "buy-it-now" price but I also allow and actually enjoy someone making an offer on my items. Numerous times I had a bid go way higher than I knew my plant was worth, and to tell you the truth, it embarrassed me to see someone pay much more than it was worth. All I could do was include a free plant to make up for that over-bid price. It is fairer for eBay purchasers and more comfortable for me to price my items fairly.

I am not into that bid thing is the main reason I have never really considered Ebay and I had heard bad things about people getting bad plants.

Most everything on Ebay now is simply Buy it Now or even with many auctions, there may be a Buy It option. There are also items that are Make offer. I have done that a dozen or so times and was never rejected.

I have purchased thousand of seeds and ~ 20 plants on Ebay. Only one minor problem - not quality related - was quickly cleared up.

Of course one can always have problems whether on Ebay or a firm's web site. For the latter, I always check here and/or the Watchdog at that other place.

Well, the PO has messed up again. I have been tracking my alo and the seller took it to the PO Monday morning but apparently the 3 day Priority means little these days. For some reason it is now in Charleston, about 2 hours north of here. If they bring it down to my PO overnight I should get it tomorrow. My local PO is great but getting things from the bigger PO's to our little one is another story.

So true, Carol. I even had a plumeria come back after being frozen all the way to the ground! Their stems are full of water so I was sure it was dead, but sure enough it sprouted and grew new leaves from the base that year.

Unfortunately, it got hit again the next winter, its mother didn't cover or mulch it Rolling my eyes. it and it didn't come back again.

It's here! Exactly as pictured, about 28" tall - including the cup it is planted in. It has a good full root system too. Smiling I'm happy.

I have purchased a lot of Sempervivum from momshens. Every plant I receive is the mama plant and multiple babies, all very healthy, packed very well. She will
combine purchases to save you money. Probably the best seller of Sempervivum on Ebay.
I have purchased clematis seedlings that came as a stick and stayed a stick from plant1onme. I wrote her but heard nothing in return.
I have purchased so many seeds from China, Korea and the U.S. Almost nothing grew, so maybe, just maybe it's the grower! I did have success with
succulent seeds.
The best advice is be sure to look at the seller's feedback rating. There are some really good sellers on Ebay. Please don't pay too much for shipping. Most
plants are sent bare root so they can't weigh that much.
