Hurray! Thanks :-))

That lily forum there really has no traffic and I never would have posted them if I still could have just added them here the way I used to. In fact I took the pictures today so I could post them on the daylily forum (which I did). But that thread had daylilies too.

The GW Lily Forum used to be quite busy but most of us frequent posters left when Spike, the owner, sold GW to IVillage.

I still smile when someone brings up an old post from '05 (I think) regarding getting lily pollen stains out of fabric. I still think my method is one of the best (put it in the sun).

Lots of people took up and left Gardenweb on all the forums after i Village took over. There used to be lots and lots of really busy forums there. I started out at the Wildlife gardening and the shrubs forums. But those had a mass exit after i village took over. People forget that Spike wasn't so perfect eithier. It was really easy to get sent to Disneyland when Spike was around. I think they mostly went to Daves. Then Daves had it's own slew of people up and leaving after it was sold. They seem to be here.

But lots of us are at both Daves and Cubits.

The main thing that drove me from GW was their require for an excess of personal information just to sign up again. They should not need anything more than an email address, a user name, and get set up with a password. No, they wanted gender, birthday, and I am sure there was other stuff (address, phone?). All required fields. All they wanted to do was monetize the snot out of us but I am pretty careful about the info I give out for everyone to see.

I don't remember what they wanted to sign up, it was so many years ago for me. They are all about advertising and making money. The site is so commercial. If those advertisers only knew how little effect it has on buying, the opposite in fact. I would go out of my way to avoid buying from those i village advertisers.

Great lilies Rita. You have a nice way of presenting them.

Kind of got into the online garden communities later than most of you guys. Had heard about Spike and the GW woes. In the end I ended up liking cubits more because it seemed like I had more free speech here. I didn't have to worry about praising a company on a thread and being reprimanded that I was advertising for them. And duplicate posting, I don't seem to have the time for either. Though I went to a DG RU in June and forgot how to get to the woman's house and I was lost for about an hour Whistling . I ended up signing up for a 2 month subscription, just to find her house (cubits were invited as well, but the address was only at DG). Started looking over a thread or two, just to catch up and actually realized that one place is enough for me. I'm more acclimated to here now since I haven't been over there for a year now.

And I'm really happy to have you all here too.

How funny is that, Tracey, you had to sign up for a 2 mo subscription to find her house!

I just love it here, too, and I'm so glad all of you are here. I went the route of Gardenweb, DG, and now Cubits. I could never really get accustomed to the format at Gardenweb.

What really bothers me about DG is the fighting and sniping, and cliques. I really think the people on Cubits Lilies are here for the love of lilies. We all get along so very well. It seems so much more adult.

Pathetic, isn't it Polly? I had been to her house the last two years! It seems I get lost each time, so much so, that wrong was looking right. Having no smartphone (lol!) I had to call my DH and have him sign me up on his iPhone. Truly pathetic. Me.

At the gathering and in conversations since, I detected a real animosity from some. I adore so many of the people that I have met through Dg (originally) and certainly didn't wish for it to be taken personally. I come to cubits for friendship, sharing in gardens and life and you all bring me such smiles and humor as well as intelligent lily conversation. Hopefully one day all those fences can be mended. But for now, I'll just keep enjoying all of you and what you bring here, because that is what it is all about.

Gardenweb has a really different flavor than Daves or Cubits. I guess you like it or hate it. I ignore all the advertising also.

But the daylily forum is deffinately like a bunch of old friends for us regulars. But we are friendly. All one has to do to become one of the regulars is start posting.

Thank you for looking at my lilies over on the other thread. I only have two lily pictures for today so will upload them here. Thats it, like one or two is ok but an entire string like I had yesterday is impossible.

The Jacquiline lilies I planted afew years ago out there were I have some rows of daylilies. I picked that color because I really thought it would look good there and I have been very pleased. The daylilies there have started blooming and the Jacqueline Lilies are still blooming. Was able to get that picture with the two together that really turned out well. Glad you all liked it :-)

Those lilies look really odd to me as they have normal sized lily blooms but the stems are so short. Now I knew they would be short as listed at 16 inches and I needed them for the front were tall ones would not work. But they are only about 8-10 inches and want to bloom like crazy. Buds up the yazzoo!
