I am sure its a Oriental (Red Photo) Last year I made a cross with another Oriental and I got 8 seeds. At the time I made the original cross I only had a few Orientals plus a lot of Star Gazer, so I just used Star Gazer as the pod parent. I don't think I had any Asiatic at that time.

Wow, that last one looks like the bud is red before it opens! I looked up CT3-3 and it is a tet yellow with pink picotee trumpet x white with red chevron OT. The seedling I grew from Sim's original cross did not have a chevron, but here it shows up again in my cross back to a tet trumpet. Great!

Back in 2003 when I purchased the parent seeds I copied off the photographs of all of my purchases. Nice to have them for reference.

Mike, thanks for growing my seeds. Hope you are enjoying the results!

I can't wait for them to bloom. There are several more getting ready to bloom. Hopefully they are some differences.
Connie, its people like you that keeps us going. My area we have no one that we can discuss Lilies with, You would think with Sun Valley (open house July 24th) and Leslie Woodriff having a business here before his death, there would be a lot of interest in them. Can't find anyone.
Thanks again for the seeds.......

I think these are so pretty together. The stems are quite strong (tetraploid) but they haven't grown very tall.

I have been remiss to the extreme, missing this thread. Sorry, Mike. But to catch up, did you notice your Star Gazer x unknown has nine petals? I agree with Tracey that is looks very asiatic rather than oriental. Very nice.
http://cubits.org/liliesforum/...

Your Lilium davidii var. wilmottiae is typical. (That's a good thing.) But the yellow seedling you got from it is not. The yellow genes in each of the parents ( Lilium davidii var. wilmottiae and Lilium maculatum var. wilsonii) are rare, and to randomly combine them rarer yet.

The two have very different foliage. Did you also get a variety of leaf forms, green coloring and glossiness vs. dull sheen? Often, there is not much variation in leaves, even when there is in the flowers.

Congratulations on your many successes!

Leftwood:
Went out and checked the yellow TigxWilsonF2 blooms. Right now I have two blooming. The leaves look to me as same as orange ones. Only different is one of the yellow has bulbils. Regarding the Oriental, I am testing it now, I crossed it with a mixed pollen oriental to see if I get seed.
