We have a tree that gives off the most fragrant scent. We've had a lot of friends ask us what kind of plant it is but, no one seems to know.

Can you give us an idea of where you live? You don't have to list the exact city but the state would be helpful and also is this tree/shrub in bloom now or was the photo from earlier in the year? This is just a guess but it reminds me of Fragrant Olive (Osmanthus fragrans)

Look at Osmanthus fragrans - Sweet Olive. Scientific name: Osmanthus fragrans .
I think the one with orange color flowers has a stronger scent.
