@Pat236 posted some photos of a beautiful daylily that I would like to have but the other Daylilies of that name in the datbase look much different and not a Daylily I would like. My question is if these are the same daylily is it just the luck of the draw in what you will get?

It may be that different cameras capture the color differently but if you look at the color description for Mineral Springs it is purple, not rose or red. I got my plant as a bonus from Maryotts (the hybridizer) and my picture pretty much matches the description and the picture on their website.

If you really like the color of daylily in Pat236's pictures you could always search the daylily database here for other daylilies with that coloring. It is really pretty!

Leslieray, I got that daylily in July from Maryott's , and it was labeled as Mineral Springs. I also bought Sailing at Dawn at the same time, ...take a look at that one in the database as well. Also take a look at Bright in the Night, another Maryott's cutivar...one of the pics in the database looks like Mineral Springs. They could have been mislabeled, but this one was labeled Mineral Springs, and it is more beautiful in person. This was also the first bloom, and it is not purple at all. The color looks pretty much like it is in the photo. I didn't do any photoshop or color enhancement what so ever. It has a few more buds so I'll be looking to see if the color changes any, but I like as is.

I have two plants of MINERAL SPRINGS that I got from Bill Maryott, and this is how it looks here in Bakersfield:

In Weak Sunlight

In Shade

In Bright Early Morning Sunlight

It's definitely purple here, although as you can see it looked much pinker in early morning sunshine.

Betty, mine is in afternoon sun for about five hours a day, but the mornings have started to get cool...mid sixties to low seventies. I was afraid that the change in temps might impact the buds ability to open, but two opened on the same scape at once. Leslieray is right...mine does not look like hers at all. The only thing consistent is the cream ruffled edge.

Maybe you could send a picture of yours to Bill Maryott and ask if he could help with identifying your bright pink daylily. He might be able to identify it right away. Sometimes it's just as simple as realizing a different dayliily planted right next to MINERAL SPRINGS somehow got mixed in with it, and I would think that he really knows what is planted where in his fields.

I will send Bill an email this afternoon to see what he thinks. I ordered BRIGHT IN THE NIGHT, SAILING AT DAWN, and MINERAL SPRINGS from him at the same time, but this one was labeled MINERAL SPRINGS, as I kept the pink tag stapled to the plants until they fell off. I'll let you guys know what he thinks.

After going back and forth with Bill Maryott for a couple of days, he determined that this cultivar is indeed MINERAL SPRINGS. He had me take a picture of the cover of his webpage with the same camera and lens to determine color accuracy. My camera has the saturation up a notch, but not overly so. He says for sure that the cultivar is MINERAL SPRINGS. It looks a bit like another one listed on his site...DREAMING OUT LOUD.

I was looking at that one myself, and was stumped over the different colors in the pictures. Some I love, and some I don't love. Decided to start a thread about the numbers after the colors in the color description.

The thread "What do the numbers mean in the plant description?" in Daylilies forum

I've found a couple of color charts online that are supposed to show the RHS colors, but they don't match what I'm seeing in any of the photos.

Bill did say that he thought the red and blues were off in my camera, but the plant in my garden looks like the picture that I posted. I didn't see much purple at all....more mauve. I have a couple of more buds. When those open I will take more photos as this was the first scape and bloom. I got it back in July and was happy to have it bloom at all, but it does not look like the pic on the web page.
