The key feature of this variety is its compact habit. Really hard to beat. We have and are continuing to use it extensively in breeding, to get this great growth in other colors.

One of our longest bloomers. Shorn to the ground last winter as it had become old and woody and it grew back good as new.

I've been growing SCF for years, but always in marginal sun where the bloom power is also marginal. This year I'm planning to put a plant in all-day sun to see what it can really do.

@hawkeyewx Dan,

So sorry I didn't see this sooner. *Blush* D'Oh! Sighing!

SCF likes full sun to partial shade, so it will be a lot happier for you and you should see a lot more flowers. Thumbs up

I have a nice plant ready to go. It'll be planted in early to mid May alongside a hot lips in an open field garden plot near my house. Hot lips struggled to bloom in part sun in my yard, but bloomed like crazy in all-day sun last year. I'm hoping for the same from SCF.

@hawkeyewx Dan,

I've had good luck with SCF that has overwintered in a 24 inch container for years and recently, I noticed some flowers on it. I love the color of SCF! One of my favorites.

That nice plant I mentioned in my earlier post ended up being in its small pot for too long. In addition, a long stretch of cold, windy weather forced me to keep it in the garage for quite a while. When I eventually got it planted in all-day sun it wasn't ready for it and all the older growth burned up. The plant was putting out little bits of fresh growth at the lower nodes, so today I cut it back. It will obviously take longer to begin blooming than I had hoped, but it should eventually look nice.
