I noticed a couple of days ago that the daylily, Mineral Springs, has the following color description

"purple RHS185B with diffused darker eye RHS187B, full orange throat, gold ruffled edge"

It is a gorgeous daylily! Most of the pictures show a wide variance of colors though. So, I checked the description, and saw the numbers, which have me totally confused! Anyone know what they mean? It's probably something really simple, but is lost on me!

I think that's a color chart number from the Royal Horticultural Society. It's sort of an official horticultural color chart like the color charts for paint at the hardware store. And a lot more expensive to purchase Smiling . Someone else will probably know for sure.

I've heard Bill mention that he uses the RHS color charts to describe his registrations, so that's a safe bet!
