Fascinating Fasciation

By Paul2032

The beauty around us seems endless, but sometimes Mother Nature outdoes herself in creating plants and flowers that are unique and that may, depending on your tastes, seem even more beautiful. Fasciated flowers have something that could be described as a little extra and could be considered either gorgeous or grotesque.

My Pink Perfection lily was fasciated last year. I found it scary, but beautiful. The plant grew normally this year.

Veronica spicata and Linaria purpurea 'Canon J. Went' fascinate often in my garden. I love how it makes blooms look. I really love different!

Is this a different phenomena from cresting, or are cresting and fasciation related?

I have a daylily that does this, sometimes fusing whole stems together--I wonder if it has a virus. (Am trying to post a photo but my pictures are all over this blasted PC and I just found about fifty still on the camera--my computer skills are somewhere down around zero!!!)

Ive had Daylilies that did this before too. Don't think it's a virus though. It actually looks pretty cool, doesn't it?
