I've had a couple of large seed pods in my greenhouse drying for a couple of months now but they're still green and kind of soft. Shouldn't they be turning brown by now or do they do that?

A lily breeder on the phone the other night told me to put the pods into a potato and it would speed the process up.
you could try that and see
many of my pods are still green and some are mushy

Someone on here said it takes a few weeks after they are mushy to be dried out

hope this helps. I am by a no means an expert on this......

Thanks Pat, I'll give them some time yet then. The small ones dried out and when I opened them I couldn't see any seeds inside unless they're really tiny.

the size of the end of a pencil and apparently they show up in 3 rows of seeds is what I was told anyhow
mine are not near ready yet ........the plants are still green here
the seed pods have to come off here before the first frost though and brought in to finish ripening if that has not already happened by then
our first frost is supposed to be sometime in October for our zone 4b but might actually show up in late September by the looks of the temps coming ahead this year..

Mine have all died off for the year here already. I've attached a photo of my seed pods. I guess I can just let them go and see what happens. I know the plants themselves will come back next year but I'd like to start some seeds also.
