Everything looks the same to me. My glasses are still at Visionworks and I'm using my backup pair. I'm just glad I haven't walked into any walls yet. Rolling on the floor laughing

Most of the flowers on the Florida Pusley/Richardia scabra have six petals; I just happened to take the photo in an area where the 5-petal flowers hang out. Rolling on the floor laughing

Either way, I have stopped weeding for today. Thumbs up

Diodia will throw out 5 petaled flowers sometimes, so I wasn't sure. It looks like Richardia & Diodia are very closely related. Same family, subfamily, and tribe (but different genus, of course.) Good ID work, greene! Green Grin!

Four, five, six petals!! That's how wildflowers are, they have a mind of their own. Lovey dubby

So, as soon as I said my Zinnia Envy is useless and pulled up all of it except one plant, I've been seeing skipper butterflies on it every day! Hilarious!

According to Wikipedia the food for the capterpillar in my yard...
"The larvae feed on Borreria, Catalpa, Manettia, and Pentas species, and Spermacoce glabra, Hamelia patens, Hedyotis nigricans, Heimia salicifolia, Psychotria microdon, Psychotria nervosa, and Inga vera."

Once I translate that into plain English I'll figure out what the heck the little guy was doing in my yard. I don't recognize any of the botanical names. Blinking

Edited to add:
I checked each of the plants.
Borreria alata seems to be a synonym for the Spermacoce alata and (without glasses) looks almost exactly like the Richardia scabra in my yard; maybe to the caterpillars they are close enough. The Spermacoce glabra also looks very similar also but with more flowers.

I'm right behind you, greene - I found no caterpillar, but I will spend my winter collecting photos of the likely caterpillars I'd find here, and their favorite foods -and what the eggs look like in case I find those....... I hope I get it together well enough!

I expect to wade through lots of names I'm unfamiliar with.

Ooh, ooh, I know a few of those! Catalpa trees I know, but they don't grow down here. Kind of weird that Tersas eat them because I thought the Catalpa Sphinx Moth had a monopoly on them. Up in WV I saw where they just stripped a tree. Hamelia patens is Firebush that I'm always talking about. It's also a host for the Pluto Sphinx Moth. Hmm...sensing a theme here. And Psychotria nervosa is Wild Coffee! I saw lots of it growing at Selby Gardens. Very good nectar plant. From what I can see, at least some of those plants appear to be in the Rubiaceae family.

I saw a Female monarch today here in NW Missouri. First I have seen in over a week. And she was HUGE darting back and forth between butterfly bush and agastache. Made me smile. Green Grin! I will miss them for the next 6 months. Grumbling BUT - I will be growing lotsa new plants in my basement to entice some new butterflies next year.

The only way I can grab a photo of a butterfly is if one (or two) decide to take a rest exactly in front of my camera. Here are two skippers, one lower left, the other upper right. I took 9 photos and this is the best of the bunch. Guess I won't quit my day job and become a wildlife photographer. Rolling on the floor laughing

I agree. I'm on my third digital camera and all the $$$ I spent for the 3 of them would probably equal one year of film and developing.

Nice skippers greene! Their cool color looks, I'll just say it...cool.

I only noticed Cabbage Whites frolicking after each other here today...I trashed the few pics I took of them.

Greene, those are cool photos, and much better than most of my attempts to catch the quickly darting skippers!!

Thank You! Thank you, but my photo of two Skippers is not nearly as interesting as @jimard8's photo of the two Cabbage Whites.

OOPS! Forgot to say that yesterday my 3 Asclepias tuberosa (milkweed) plants arrived. Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Nice & healthy & a decent size already. They will go dormant for the winter but will be rearing to go when spring comes so i'll get a jump start with them in time for monarchs to come back this way. Meanwhile I will be germinating the seeds of various milkweeds I got that are native to FL. I'll hope to get seed pods off these 3 plants so I can wild sow them all over the property.

I got 2 agastache plants also -- black adder - & a nice goldenrod that only gets about 18" tall.
