Speaking of fall foliage, I have a purple-leafed crab apple tree which always loses its leaves early and the crazy thing has lots of pink buds/blossoms on it but no leaves! Go figure.....

Barbara, I feel your pain (brown leaves on trees).. Most of the oaks on the hill behind us are dying.. Probably sudden oak death that took hold in drought weakened trees. The oaks that are there were the survivors from the first wave.

Cleta, I've always wanted to see the fall color in the East. Lucky you! I'll bet your trip has been beneficial to your healing too (not being home and felling like you have to do things...).

I've planted things that get good fall color here.. It doesn't compare to back East, but it's not bad for here. Still a couple/few weeks away.. Longing for fall......

If I can I'll try to take some pictures this weekend.

Jane -- the same thing is happening to our cherry trees. They're an old variety -- growing here when we moved here, so I have no idea the variety they are -- but they lost most all of their leaves, and then began to bloom. I swear --- the weather is so crazy that even the trees are confused.

Sherry -- you've done a great job of creating fall color there!!

I've got a magnolia with seed pods and 2 buds next to them that are opening... Things are confused...

The spring blooming honeysuckle is in full bloom here. It smells wonderful but it is jarring to the senses. ???

What climate change?

Our forthyia bloomed last fall & look at the winter we had.

Thanks Sherry, It is good to be away from home responsibilities. My husband said the only thing I have to do on this trip is do my exercises . . . and enjoy the scenery. I am doing both.

So jealous I missed on this thread. I hope to share some after next bloom season and will definitely give away AND trade.
