This plant is one we share at the local swap. Since no one knows the name we call it "Jane's Daisy" because Jane is the hostess of the plant swap. They tell me it will make a daisy-like bloom and would prefer to have some sunshine.
Can anyone recognize the plant just by looking at the leaves?

If you were also told that the plant would get large, my wild guess would be Roldana petasites.....

edited to add: or one of the other roldana, petasites being the one I'm familiar with.

No, they did not say anything about this plant being large, just normal size. Not sure the leaves are the same for that one.
Meanwhile I wrote to the plant swap's Facebook page and someone will be (hopefully) sending a photo of the blooms. That should narrow it down.

Bringing this back to life with a bit more information and new photos.
I am told the plant will be tall, very tall and have yellow daisy-like flowers.
Folks have been passing this plant back and forth at the local swap and no one seems to know the identity.

No, this is an entirely new plant that I received from the local swap...in a teeny tiny pot. The one from last time did not succeed. Many of the local swappers say they only have about a 50-50% success rate. Some claim more sun is needed; others say more water...yet someone must be succeeding because they keep bringing the babies to the swap. (Guess they are keeping a secret.)

I'm satisfied that it must be some kind of Rudbeckia. Thanks for getting me that far.

I looked in our database at all the photos for the R. laciniata and R. nitida and guess I will have to hope this baby grows up so I can make a positive ID.

It's actually r fulgida.

I've been trying to learn the difference between r lacinata and r nitida for some time now...
One seems to have stolons, but I havent figured out which.

Your plant would do a lot better planted in a moist spot... The sooner out of that pot, the better.
