Thread OP

I was one of the first 300 contributors to the plant database!
This photo has been used by a lady on IrisLovers group https://www.facebook.com/photo...
withtout giving credit to the author and obviously without permission. Do you agree with this please?
I do not have much time to come here but I take time to post pictures in this database first as all the nice people from cubits are now here and second as I thought that pictures could not be stolen. I am afraid not to wish to go any further if anyone can use the photos without permission and without giving any credit.
Thank you for your comments.

Hi CLUSIANA,

@dave answered this question in another thread but, since it's my picture in this particular case, I'll tell you my feelings on it. I don't know Katie McCaffery, never heard of her before your post. But, I wouldn't characterize what she has done as theft. She specifically says the picture isn't hers. She could have done a better job with the attribution (she didn't get it from the Iris wiki because it's never been posted there, but I'll chalk that up to a memory lapse). Same with @tveguy3's picture further down the page. She doesn't claim it's hers, just doesn't do a very good job of acknowledging where she got it from. Seems fairly innocuous. This stuff only bothers me when people use my pictures to make money for themselves, but everyone has a different limit. Shrug!

The pictures in the ATP database are better protected than is the case for most websites ( the Iris wiki for example). Ultimately though, once a picture is posted online, nothing will stop other people from copying and using it. Each person has to decide for himself/herself if the benefits of having pictures online are worth that cost.

Thanks for your answer Kent. I just do not understand people using pictures from others as I do not see the point to see the same pictures all over the place
Glad to know that pictures in the ATP database are better protected than anywhere else.
