It must be the Michigan air! Two of mine are doing that, too. I did the same thing, I put them out for the summer and I meant to bring them in yesterday, but didn't because I fell asleep early (oops :blushing:) and now I'm hoping I didn't destroy the buds.

Anyway, though, I can't say if this is common because I've only had them a couple of years now, but it didn't happen last year, that's for sure. Hmm...

Did you happen to repot yours this year? (I repotted mine in March and it's possible that is why they are blooming. Two of mine bloomed this past summer and one of those two is one of the two that is blooming now. Blinking It's a workhorse!)

Maybe the cooler temp's are enticing them to bloom? I used to grow Amaryllis (Hippeastrum 'Aphrodite') and mine always bloomed here in December,January, February and March when our Flroida temp's tend to be cooler.

Susie, what a lovely bloom! Aphrodite is one of my favorite Amaryllis! You should upload your photo to the database: Amaryllis (Hippeastrum 'Aphrodite') Just click on the link and scroll down a bit and on the left side of the page you will see a place that says: Adding Actions, click on where it says Upload a photo; and choose your picture from your computer. It takes a couple of seconds to upload but then you will get a screen showing your photo and you can check off whether it's a bloom, the entire plant, leaves etc. Once you've checked off which part of the plant it is you will see a green area at the bottom saying Submit the photo. It will then go into a queue for the database administrators and once it's been entered you will get a system message telling you it's done and you will receive an acorn. Green Grin!
