I love the color of those blooms. (Are those blooms?) I have never heard of the plant, so I went to the plant details and noticed there really weren't any. Are you, by chance, able to update the database with your own knowledge of this plant?

Thank you for sharing a picture!

Yes, those 'pouches' are the blooms, DND.

Calceolaria arachnoidea is native to the Chilean portion of the Andes mountains. I observed two colour 'shades' of these flowers: this purple one and the almost black one. I will add all the data later, once I have downloaded all my pictures (I took me soooooo long to acquire the skill to download from Windows 8.1 - I come from Windows '98 Confused - and nobody is going to stop me now Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing ). If you want to see them before I do, you can probably find them at DG's PDB where I entered them many years ago (and probably the same pictures).

LoL, Ursula! I can wait to see the info when you're ready. I actually was just meaning in terms of updating ATP's entry for it so that future visitors know a bit more about the plant. Right now all it says is the water preference.

I should take a gander at your plant list soon. I've been a northerner most of my life (with the exception of a 7-year stint out west), so it's great to see tropical plants and, moreso, the really unique, native-to-other-countries plants like Capachito.

You will be surprised to find out how many plants from our native flora you already know either as species or as hybrids based on our species plants Big Grin
