Rolando has done amazing work with Salvias. You can check out his website at http://salvias.com.ar/ and get lost in the beauty. He also was the one that found the lovely hybrid, 'Amistad'.

So good to have you here and another salvia expert like Kermit is. Thumbs up

Love 'Amistad'. Truly a wonderful, gorgeous and "must have" salvia to grow every year and for the hummers!

You should check out Rolando's site if you haven't already. He is doing great plant fieldwork in Argentina and has co-written a book on hummingbird gardening. At his site, at least this was true, are photos of some of the most stunning gardens one could ever imagine. Rolando and Robin are friends and we have been benefiting from their friendship, they have brought many fine plants to us.

@FBTS I was wondering about color variation as I see you have both a "dark pink" and a "light pink" one for sale.

A great deal of variation. As these are large plants, we used a lot of space growing out over a hundred seedlings in the hunt for one or two that were substantially better than the rest. Our two named varieties are the result of that.

The vigor of some of these seedlings is amazing, they are outgrowing every other salvia except one vinifolia. In the long run I expect I will have to go hat in hand to FBS and order both to try. Rather than being big and fast growing one of the seedlings has remarkably tiny leaves and started branching right from the get-go. It is probably nothing to write home about but I am curious.

@rolando welcome! I have S. Amistad coming back from its roots for second spring, and in my zone we have some brief dips into 10 degrees Fahrenheit over the winter so it is very adaptable.
