I picked up a pretty glass plaque at the thrift store with a friendship saying on it, thought I would try and put it in the middle of a stepping stone for my best friend for her birthday, which is the same day as mine only different year. She isn't a garden person, but you sure don't need to be one with a pretty stepping stone.

No you don't, I even have stones setting on my porch next to the door for everyone to see when they show up.

Great idea about setting my "creations" on front porch. I'm worried that there are too many sticky fingers around and they might vanish. Of course I could use them on the back porch too, but then only I would see them. Thanks for the idea.

You are very welcome. Hopefully sticky fingers don't get to close to the front door.

No not really, I do it in the garage so as not to have any wind or sun on them to make them cure faster, beside they aren't thick enough to worry about it. Now if you are going to make them for high traffic areas where they would be used constantly then I would add chicken wire and make them thicker. Mine are really just for decorations even though I do use them to step on in the garden. Besides the mortar is made to dry quickly.

I have to try some of these! I like that they involve some of my favorite things....cakes, pies, brownies, and sticky fingers! Would be great garden gifts.

It depends on the size of your mold really. I usually get one 12" maybe 2 and four or five 6" and then a bunch of little 3".

I like the idea of doing these with a loop of wire in the back so that I can hang them on my wood fence. (Whenever I move back to the states and have a fence or wall to hang them on Blinking )

I am thinking that as wall art; they will not need to be very thick at all Smiling so if I mix up about 20 cups worth of mortar mix, it should do 4 or 6 thick ones and maybe 10 thin ones. I can't wait to do this.

Think about using copper wire or something that will not rust & therefore it will last longer & not make rust streaks down your wall or fence etc....

Thumbs up So; immediately I think about where to find sturdy copper wire and think about making loops from the copper pipe that is used to hook up the ice maker in the 'fridge...and those loops grow into part of the art as they can be pressed into the face ... Hey! This could work!!
