I found this plant with runners, growing among other beach dwellers, leaves are thick and very stiff.
The location is on one of the wild beaches of Paraty, SE brazil

Thanks Lin, but I've searched all species of Eyngium in that area but didn't find match, nor in its family Apiaceae.

I was looking in Cyperaceae. I search for seashore plants southeast brazil and found an abstract with a few names, Mariscus pedunculatus brought me to Remirea maritima.
