This succulent plant was in the clearance basket at KMart without an identification marker. With indirect lighting and some water, this is what I ended up with; it seems very happy where I have it sitting in a west facing window. I tried to capture the 4" long cream/light green colored spike of which there are several on the plant. Thank you!

The long spike tells me Peperomia. Not sure; just a guess. The photo is blurry so I'll just venture a guess at P. clusiifolia. Hope someone will come along with a better answer soon.

Yes, looks to be Peperomia clusifolia, possibly one of these:

Red Edge Peperomia (Peperomia tricolor)

I'm sure the duplicate database entries for Tricolor are in error ... those are both one and the same plant.

The more I look at the photo, I'm thinking it is 'Jellie'.

@purpleinopp Tiffany grows this one, maybe she can verify.

I find it difficult to spell clusiifolia; kept forgetting the extra "i" in the middle of the word. Rolling on the floor laughing

If it is all the same plant should we request a merge for the two? with one being "also sold as"?

This site gives it the name Peperomia clusiifolia "Ginny" also sold as "Tricolor" and "Rainbow".
http://www.learn2grow.com/plan...

This site has the name as Peperomia clusiifolia var. tricolor:
http://succulent-plant.com/fam...

http://www.jaycjayc.com/pepero... gives tricolor as a synonym for "Jelly":
Botanical Name: Peperomia clusiifolia โ€˜Jellieโ€™ (synonyms: Peperomia clusiifolia cv. Jellie; Peperomia clusiifolia var. tricolor)

Note: I have seen it spelled as "Jellie", "Jelly" and "Jely"

Sorry, cross-posted. Please feel free to ignore any part of my post that doesn't fit. Thanks.

greene, I posted on the Plant Database forum about an hour ago thinking they were duplicates and should be merged, just noticed the replies from admin: The thread "Duplicates?" in Plant Database forum

Sounds good. Thumbs up
Hopefully someone will be able to sort out which is which...before the taxonomist change the accepts names again. Whistling

In a way I am wondering why someone would name a plant "Ginnie" and an almost identical plant "Jelly"; seems very strange.

However this turns out, at least @IJsbrandtGA knows the basic identity of the plant is Peperomia and knowing that should lead to learning how to care for the plant. Thumbs up

I agree it does look like Red Edge Peperomia, 'Jellie'.

Some growers punctuate their own nicknames as cultivars. It's very confusing.

If cultivars are not always patented, I give up investigating them. And gave up trying to get a definitive answer about whether or not cultivars are always patented or not, and if not, how and where is one supposed to find info about them? IDK...

I have merged the entries for the cultivars 'Tricolor' and 'Jellie' with the species entry for P. tricolor. The other two names are included in the entry as also-sold-as names.

Red Edge Peperomia (Peperomia tricolor)
