Jamie,
I can not wait to see your blooms over the next two years, altho I imagine most everything will bloom the first year. Kudos to you to get out in this cold and plant! I'll be under the awning with Inky cheering you on.

Me? I had a house to clean, pies to bake and things that just needed my attention. Then the Grandkids were here and not much gets done then. Pretty boring :o)
(I'm glad to be missed :o)

Sassafrass,

Chit! I failed, I didn't get it done. Washed lawn furniture and covered it and went down for 2 days with this thing that I have. Back on antibiotics. These last bulbs are hyacinth though, so if I pot and cold porch them that would be okay too...then I could smell them while they 'happy-up' my back stoop whilst being able to see where next yearr's spring bald spots are.

Sally Anne....grandchildren are not supposed to be boring! Rolling on the floor laughing

Jamie, it all sounds good except for that bug you have. I'd go for some of those wonderful smelling hyacinths in a couple of months, but I forgot to buy any and when when I looked they had been replaced with other merchandise.

It's a nice day, temp reached 40 or more after starting at 12. I repotted/sprayed house plants. Had some of them sitting outside for an hour or so. Oops, one more, gotta run out and rescue it.

Ok, it's back inside. It was still sitting in the sun after being sprayed with Safer's Soap to kill the mealy bugs. A couple of jade plants got the treatment, too. I left those out in the greenhouse after spraying them outside. I do not like the smell of that spray and didn't want it in my kitchen. Planted some tulip bulbs in 6 different clusters in the flower bed in half frozen soil, potted up some sun chokes, and took cuttings of the gangly half dead ivy that hung in front of the bathroom window, then tossed the plant. Transplanted a varagated spider plant into that pot, washed the macrame hanger, and hung up the new plant. It looks much better. It's kinda small compared to the ivy, but was outgrowing the wide kitchen windowsill. Now I have no fear of the bathroom plant becoming restless and deciding to shower with me.
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

Hilarious! Mary! You've been busy! I still have plants that came in and are sitting all over the place waiting for attention from me. Some will likely also get in the shower! They do really well with a little sudsing of handmade eucalyptus soap that I get (for myself) from a WI perveyor. Then they just lul in there and drip until I have dusted them window spots to relax by for the season. I still have to get some of the upstairs storm windows on though, so right now, they just sit all over the living room and chat.

I can just picture your houseplants (or is it your storm windows?) chatting. Hmmm, Jamie, I think you need to get out more.

My goodness, you all have been busy! Jamie, feel better soon! Um, maybe you should take it easy for a few days??? Just sayin', Wonder Woman!

We've been busy with Christmas decorations... finally got those done (LOVE them!). Now on to Winter Solstice Party planning...and the never ending job of trying to keep the house clean. Many of my plants are sitting around the house 'chatting' as well... gardenia and mandevilla recently had a 'shower'... in the shower, LOL!

Ah Brenda...tell us about your Winter Solstice parties planned!

Do the dawgs like the plants coming in?

The dawgs and the plants are not a happy pairing. The dogs keep wanting to eat the plants, and I'm quite afraid that there has also been some 'territory marking'... thus the showers and the elevating of the plants, and the keep away spray...

Each year we have a 'Winter Solstice Party', sometime around the solstice (it's also a Christmas party, but as a gardener, I like to celebrate the solstices). We play poker and pool and eat and drink and socialize. I love it. I have a very diverse group of friends, and it's fun to get them all together. BTW, the winter solstice party was originally inspired by DahliaNut...

Now Brenda that sounds like my kind of party. Add darts in there and yes that would be wonderful. Solstice party, I like the sound of that. Do you do Spring, Summer and Fall as well? Or just Winter.

Well, Cece, there is a dartboard downstairs as well... but it is blocked at the moment by a Christmas tree! Winter is the only solstice I plan a party around, but I have been known to go out and dance in the garden on some of the other solstices, LOL!
