Oh, I hope Allison is okay! They are getting some nasty weather on the east coast. So sad about her decorations, but more importantly that she stays safe... hope she's able to check in soon.

So glad you are okay! I grew up in a small town outside of Buffalo, NY, spent my first 30 years there, so I know how bad storms can be. Have fun with the extended Halloween season!

Looks like you have some warmer sunnier days on the way Allison. Into the 60°s by the weekend.

Snow! Unseasonably early, I hope it's not here to stay. More snow in the forecast. Bah humbug!

Snow here too... but definitely on time... 7000 ft in the San Juans of the Rocky Mountains, it's snow time. Bundle up and hunker down! We're enjoying a fire in the fireplace!

Today I woke to see white frost atop the roofs on the outdoor buildings, one leaf pesistant on the oak, no bird, or squirrel or other critter. I took dawg out and he was disturbed because his outdoor water was frozen, then during our short crunch into the woods it started to rain. We came in wet and shivering only to have sun pour in the windows. Gray again we now see giant white flakes floating in the air and landing on branches. The grass is gray and thick with slick. WHHAAAAA! Crying

Jamie, brrrr. Not fun when you know how long winter will be. Today and tomorrow might be our last nice ones, depending on which weather forecast is more accurate.

Yesterday I unloaded and spread our 1 1/4 cu ft pickup load of compost. We got it for the fruit trees. Putting it around the root zones, and letting the winter moisture carry it down to the roots. Had to guess where the feeder roots would be on our 100 year old trees. They were probably planted when the place was homesteaded, around 1900, or maybe before. The trunks have big hollow places. We are growing some replacements, but that takes time.

Margaret, tell us what you are doing up there on that roof.

Pruning the willow tree, the branches had been laying on the roof. Rolling my eyes.

Weather isn't too bad here today, mostly sunny, 48 degrees, a bit too breezy though, but I'll take it!! Big Grin

I've been out working in the yard all day as we are to have rain and frost throughout the week. Got the gutters cleaned, birdfeeders set, more leaf chopping and raking, more composting care, then I planted 60 tulips.

I thought I was done with digging holes but yesterday I stopped at the hardware and they had a big bin of Holland bulbs marked down 40% and then it was 20% off day ...so what could I DO???? They are not the quality bulbs (only about 10-12 cm. and some dry or broken) like I typically put in but if even a portion come it will bring spring closer!

Burrr...time for a hot soak as soon as I can tear myself away from this electric blanket! (Advisory: Do NOT use electric blanket in bath.) Hilarious!
