I have had this cince my mum past could any one identify the holes in the leafs are naturally occurring

I agree on the identification of the Monstera obliqua cultivar and the holes in the leaves are normal ... hence the common name of "Swiss Cheese Plant". Green Grin!

I just submitted proposals to have my two pic's at that entry moved from the species to the cultivar 'Leichtlinii' because I'm certain that cultivar was planted by a volunteer in a few different spots in the gardens.
