Becky, I also have a thing for Dragonfly Dawn. It is my very favorite daylily.

Terry, those are some awesome seedlings. I especially love the red one from Rose F Kennedy, first picture.

Last but certainly not least, thanks so much Betty for your continued support and for showing these gorgeous seedlings from my seeds. I hardly ever see any from my seeds that I sell every year. I just LOVE the one from Best Edge!!! Hurray! Thank You!

Lately I have become enamored of Tet Rose F Kennedy children and will be buying a few this coming spring. I will also be adding more of patterns, which I adore, from Dragonfly Dawn. Wish I had space for more, downsizing has become painful.

Karen - Thank you! I am such a visual person that I need to see photos. Written descriptions often escape me. Yes! DD is a great parent! Thumbs up Now if I could breed it into a rust resistant seedling or two for hybridizing. Confused Whistling Thumbs up

You're very welcome, Dot, and you can expect my continued support nodding -- and thank you so much for creating such wonderful crosses from recent gorgeous intros! I just wish I could get more of my little seedlings to bloom, but it seems they really need to be in the ground to really take off -- and ground at my place is at a premium these drought-ridden days! But I know I will continue to buy seeds (can't seem to stop myself!), not only from you but from others here on the forum that sell such incredible seeds too! It's exciting for me to see new (to me) daylilies that I've gotten bloom for the first time -- but it's so much more exciting to see a seedling bloom for the first time, and then sometimes to see it change and improve during that first growing season or even the second season. It's such a trip!!!

And I love DRAGONFLY DAWN too -- seems like just about everything takes on it, and I can't wait to see my first seedlings bloom (although I just got it last year and used it for the first time this spring and I'm about to start planting the seeds... So it's gonna be a while).

Betty - I agree with you about seeing those first through third year blooms on seedlings! It is such a rush to see what can be created by others or myself. This is why I love daylilies so very much! The possibilities are endless!!!

Just for grins, here is another DD cross. I got both seedlings from Rich as "2 unbloomed sibling seedlings" of the same cross. I think I was one of the few bidders and look what I got. One is a double. Imagine my surprise, but the double genes are on both sides way back!

I have fun with the Scrapbook Program creating those Pedigree Charts. Here is the same chart from above just using a different background. Hilarious! Hilarious! (I convert all of my charts into images/jpg .)

PLEASE TAKE NOTE:
See this post by Maurice about why I got a double: http://garden.org/thread/view_...

You just never know what genetics will show up and what the blooms will look like! So it is a matter of buying seeds from a trustworthy seller. When I saw that double bloom, I questioned the parentage, but thanks to Maurice, he came up with the reason why it turned out to be a double. Every bloom on that particular seedling (first year bloom this past Spring) was a double. Looking at the petal colors could have you wondering too! I would expect a color other than pink, but both produced pink petals.
