I am moderating my forum and am watching my forum as a whole but I still can miss new threads others post. Is there a way a new or updated thread that I haven't "watched" yet can be shown in a thread watcher on my home page? In other words, can all the new posts in a watched forum appear in my thread watcher.

You can indeed watch a forum. Whenever any post is made (whether a new thread or a reply to an existing thread) you are notified with a red Yes on the homepage.

"Watch" the forum instead of just "watch" individual threads. I think that's working for me...

My problem is that I don't know it's there to watch. I may be wrong, but sometimes when I check a thread I know about and go back to my homepage, the forum says no. Even if there is another thread I am unaware of. I will keep my eagle eye out and see why I keep missing them (attention problem on my part or technology). BTW, I almost always respond to a thread so I am watching almost every thread that way.

Instead of going back to your homepage after reading one thread click to go back to your forum instead. Once you go read one thread the yes changes to no even if you haven't read all the new posts yet.

Yes, that's what's been happening...and then I miss threads. I guess I'll have to explain this to members of the forum too, since I've heard confusion there and decided to ask.

This is pretty simple once you get the concept.

The homepage has red yesses for all the forums that you're watching.

Go into the forum, and every thread will have a read yes if there are any posts in any of them that you haven't seen yet.

All you have to do is hit the forum's page and it will all be there for you. There's no way you can miss something.

In my mind, I can't see how it could be made less complete and concise than that.

I guess we are still following the organization from the cubit so the yesses are sometimes way down in order and not obvious like they would be if folks were posting more randomly (based on recency). I will attend more to the forum and less to the forum watcher.

I agree with the explanations. For instance, after reading this thread, don't click on All Things Plants homepage. Click the line below it - Site Talk forum. I've learned to work my way through the forum before returning to the homepage.
