It reminds me more of a Mexican Fan Palm - Washingtonia robusta or it could be a California Fan Palm - Washingtonia filifera when you said it grew by themselves. They do sprout here around our city and going south towards SoCal in the least expected places, grows like a weed. I believe it is the California Fan Palm that has that hair-like strand on the leaves when it is young. Birds tend to spread the seeds easily so it grows just about anywhere, quite drought tolerant and so persistent so oftentimes gardeners just yank it out since it can grow tall and big very fast.
