Have this in my inherited Garden - the lady who lived here planted numerous varieties of Iris -- including this one.

Not to rain on your parade, but I doubt that is Wabash. Tha falls of Wabash have a very sharp white edge that seems to be lacking or indistinct in your iris. Sorry. Sad

But, could you help on this:

Have searched through all North Carolina / Eastern flowers / willdflowers .. nothing fits.
It grows in partial shade / sun -- the main stem does branch out and the flowers look like small bells - yet leaves looked related to geraniums ...

Any help / hints will be appreciated.

That is a heuchera, commonly known as coral bells. Coral Bells (Heuchera)

If you need help with ID for any other plants, use the Plant ID Forum because there are lots of members who love helping with ID's. nodding That way it creates it's own thread rather than have it attached to this iris image. Thumbs up
