My mom was hoping to find out what this was so that she would know how to care for it. She lives in Alabama.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I agree, your mom's plant is definitely Tree Philodendron (Thaumatophyllum bipinnatifidum) I used to have lots of them at our old house and I sure miss them ... wish I'd dug one up before we sold that house.
