I was thinking along he same lines as you.

If someone took the trouble to list a cultivar in their Wish List, that makes it special.

I saw a few things and took a few notes ... if I find those in my stash and add them to my SWAP-HAVE list, I would kinda like to offer it first to the person who took the trouble to fill out a detailed wish list.

{ Edited to remove a suggestion for a Swap feature. }

We might also tempt a person to join a Swap (and offer many seeds) by giving them first call on one specific packet.

I know that I will dig for and add some packets just because one particular person requested that particular thing.

In some cases, it isn't just that they took the trouble to make up a public Wish List and keep it current. Sometimes the person Wishing is also a friend or someone like a Moderator whom I want to reward in any way I can. Often I wouldn't spend 10 minutes searching for and re-labelling a onesie-packet just to offer it to anyone who is quick with a mouse-click. But suppose Trish was looking for one special herb variety? If I knew I could deignate it as FOR TRISH, I would dig, dig dig.

But I understand that often a goal is that a swap be "equally fair" in some sense, to every member. If that means that every member must have an equal chance at everything offered, that conflicts with a flag for "Give AtpMember7 first refusal on this pkt".

This is my take on it, too. One of my favorite things to do in a swap is to fulfill a few wish list items, whenever I can. This does take a lot more time, but it's really worth it because I know that someone wants them at least enough to bother researching and listing them.

It's okay if the early consensus says no. This is a learning thing all around after all. Smiling

Oh, I agree.

Suggestions are just wind-blown pollen. Few pollen grains ever become seeds!

And we can always find ways to tickle someone's seed fancies if we work at it.

Another oddball thought I had was offering a "U2U" service in some swap. Say there are 20 people signed up as swap participants. Say someone else, outside the swap, WOULD HAVE traded or given something to 3 of those members, IF postage were three times cheaper.

If I offered to forward small baggies from any ATP member to swap members, size of box permitting, it wouldn't cost me anything other than transferring a small baggie from one mailer to an outgoing swap box.

Their savings would come from sending me just one bubble mailer, but having things forwarded to 3 different members at the end of the swap (probably in a Small Flat Rate Priority Box. (SFRPB?)

If that happened to cause a half-dozen more people to actually join eventually, and offer their seeds, or even to start collecting and saving seeds next year ... where's the harm in that?

... asks a Seed Enabler.

My Amaryllis belladonna has a bunch of these ready for harvest. If it does count, how would I package them for safety and health?

I could spare a pkt from some subset of this super-set ...
... just not sure now which-all I still have "in stock"
... what's your pleasure? I bolded the ones I like best, most likely to have multiples of.
(Some will be more than two years old, but peas last well.)

Anyone else can chime in, too. I'll only list them if I can spare them, but if you plan to plant them next year, they would rather follow you home than continue to stare at the cardboard box they're in now.

Note I have mostly pole pea-pods.

Snow Peas:
'Oregon Sugar Pod II' - 68 days
'Oregon Giant' - 40 days
'Carouby de Maussane' - 65 days, 5' vines

Golden Sweet 67 days, 6' vines. Lovely lemon-yellow pods & two-tone purple blooms. Not very sweet. Heirloom from India. (I thought mine tasted like cardboard, but someone else got sweet p[ods.)

'Rembrant' Snow Pea (Territorial PE623), OP 65 days, 4' Vines, staff favorite, 4"-5" large broad pods. Sweeter than most. Slow to form seeds & strings. Pods still tender when large

- 'Chinese' Snow Peas (Territorial PE627), OP 70 days 5' Vines. Pods stay sweet & tender even when large. Leafy young tendrils for soup.

Snow Pea 'Avalanche' 60 days 30-36" tall Semi-leafless. Many tendrils.

Snap Peas:
Sugar Snap, 62 days, 5'-6' vines
Super Sugar Snap, 60 days, 5' vines

'Sugar Ann' Snap Pea, 56 days 10 days earlier than other snap peas
'Cascadia' Edible-Pod Pea , 65 days, very thick, fleshy walls

Is anyone else getting overwhelmed by the number of choices on all of the different lists, or is it just me? Rolling my eyes. I'm trying to figure out what my top interests are, but it's hard to do with all of the adding. (That's not griping at all, just an observation! Shoot, I've been adding a bunch yesterday and today, myself!)

I think I mentioned that it would be great to have a comprehensive list of available seeds for this swap (with any available database links left intact), but if that isn't the case, can we have a day where everyone should have their seeds in by (maybe giving Lynne and the other newly-entering member an extra day or two)? Big Grin
