Does anyone have any monarda seeds they'd be able to share with me for SASE? I'd love to add them to my H/B garden next year.

I have some monarda growing but I could never figure out how to get the seeds out of them. May be I waited too long and they've fallen out already.

Is that just "Bee Balm" or "Lemon Balm"? I've seen one or both of those.

I'll have to check, but there USED to be some Bee Balm.

I have several bee balms but have not been successful in getting seeds?
several are done blooming and I have tried bagging till dry and shaking . and taking apart dry heads but found no seeds yet.

same here, no luck with seeds. I have to rely on my neighbor to give me her bee balm. Mine did not come back up this year. Love that hot pink one. I have red.

The Bee Balm sets runners on the ground but also I've been told and my friend showed me that you really have to let the flower pod get very dry, where it is brown before you pick it. She picked one from her Jacob Cline and put it inside a small baggie and I shook seeds from that pod last evening inside the bag. The leaves look like and smell like mint and I hope that I will be able to recognize the difference when I'm pulling weeds. The previous owner had mint planted and for 6 1/2 yrs. I've been pulling it. Mint leaves are very similar but smaller. I hope I'm right about this. I'm sure more experienced gardeners will tell me if I am not and that's fine..we all learn from the more experienced gardeners.

Hi, Stephanie...I likely have seeds of monarda didyma I can send...it is the one I recommend for our Texas climate extremes...good old hardy natives...let me know if you still need the seeds or some rooted divisions...

I have seeds for Lemon Mint (Monarda citriodora 'Lambada') and as many root pieces of this one Bee Balm (Monarda didyma 'Gardenview Scarlet') as we might need. JLMK

Chelle, is it too late to beg some root pieces of the red monarda? I live in central midwest and while we've had some hard frosts and one or 2 light freezes the ground is far from cold. I could do sase or any of several kinds of seeds or garlic cloves.

I was a late-comer to DG. I was only there for the last two weeks of Dave's time there, so, no; but I believe we've chatted at cubits.

I'm sure the monarda would be fine. I think the roots will sit there and wait for spring growing weather, as long as they're watered in to remove air pockets. They're really robust.

I could really use some garlic cloves! I keep forgetting to plant some. Send me your mailing info, and I'll give you mine. I'm planning on sending a bunch of stuff out on Monday.
