All it takes is a few seasons of gardening and finding unusual seed catalogs, saving seeds and swapping. Hey did you all know that the last Saturday in January is National Seed Swap Day? I am hosting a seed swap on that Saturday January 2016 with all my gardening friends and acquaintances...some from work, some from neighborhood, some from my business networking friends. It will be fun to see people from all the different areas of my life come together for our common love of plants.....and I will get some cool seeds.
And I just love getting people into the idea of saving their own seeds, showing them some of the more exotic things that you can grow. A wonderful seed selling site that I plan on ordering from is peaceseedlings

If you're able to, keep an eye out for the seed swap I'm doing in January, too! Since I plan to host my ATP seed swap at the beginning of January and send everything out mid-late January, the mail-out period sounds like it will be right around the time you plan to have your swap, so you could end up with some neat seeds to trade with your friends!

As for me, I've purchased most of my seeds. Many of mine come from the 'Survival Seed Vault' that I purchased from MyPatriotSupply, but I've also purchased dozens of other seed packets from a variety of places, primarily from Peaceful Valley.

This is fun - much easier than requesting and confirming by email.

I missed the start of the swap but after reading the thread I don't feel too bad. Thankfully everything I wanted was still available!

This system is so easy to use! Thanks Dave for taking the tedious chores of requesting seeds & replying to requests for seeds and automating them! I feel downright spoiled!

Just a bunch of text flying past my screen. I was connected to the server and watching the log files in real time, so with each click that a member was making, a new line appeared on my screen. So my screen was just scrolling as everyone was clicking.

16 out of our 20 members have placed already dibs. That leaves 4 people left to place dibs. Not bad considering the trading only started 1.5 hours ago.

I would have thought everyone would have already picked.

some people may be working or out of town.
