>> Have you ever grown the black-seeded version?

Not yet.

In some future year, I would try these, but for now, I have seeds "lined up" for the next several years of available garden space. And time!
- Swiss Landfrauen (pole)
- Grandma Nellie's Yellow Mushroom (pole, yellow bean)

Discovering the Franchi website pretty much maxed out my willingness to fill boxes with jars of seeds that might become old before I plant them.

Gee, both pkts of 'Meraviglia Di Venezia' Yellow Romano-type Pole Bean
were taken quickly! I added two more.

There's a test for Dave's software: one row was requested down to zero. Then I edited it and added two more.

Another reason why I would prefer it to list according to the scientific name. (I also know it by the synonym Centaurea montana, at least I didn't throw that in to add to the confusion Rolling my eyes. )

I was thinking the same thing because this spring I grew what was labelled as "Centaurea montana" and thought it looks just like Rick's plant! I was going to look to see if it was a synonym. Thumbs up

I want to make sure I'm clear; don't want to throw a spanner in the works. I refilled a seed type or three that went to zero a few days ago by adding another packet. I did not anticipate that it would be a problem and everything looks accurate so I think that worked fine.
Rick asked this in a way, but what I would like to be sure of is that if I make a listing that is currently active but reduced to zero unavailable to this particular swap and refill it I won't be jeopardizing the final tallies or causing people to "call dibs" on an item that is not ready. Will the listing disappear from the comprehensive list or will it still show up but as unavailable? Or should I make it private to avoid confusion? Or cool my heels and wait until the swap is over?

You can do whatever you want, actually. Smiling If you refill an item then it can be dibbed again by other people. But that doesn't mess anything up. If you don't want it dibbed, then make sure that either:

a) it's marked as "not ready" or "private"

or

b) that the quantity is 0.

You can also disable it from the swap by clicking on the green check icon in your list. That will make it completely invisible from this swap, but anyone who already dibbed it will still get their dibs on it.

I added some native plant and northern tobacco seeds.

Heading back outside. I'll be back after it gets dark - which it is doing incredibly early now. I have roses to protect and leaves to mulch.

Thank you for pointing that out. I got one now. I bypassed it earlier not being familiar with it. It appears to be native to Iowa. The range map on the USDA site is interesting with a patch here and there in different states.

I am glad you like them. I am surprised that people want goldenrod - it grows everywhere here. On another swap, greene wanted to grow some for her dog (who eats the plants before they can go to seed).

Winston the pug only eats veggies if they are cooked in a meat based stew or covered with butter. He pees on "weeds" like goldenrod. Today he "supervised" the new mums planted along the front of the house.(removed from the planters and put in the ground) The front porch is HIS outside spot. He stays out of the way of leaf blowers, but his lead gets caught up in the piles of leaves. Now he is all tired snoring in front of the heater. Yard work gets him all tired out!

>>I am glad you like them. I am surprised that people want goldenrod

We live in the middle of row crops and down a little ways is grazing pasture. Very few areas of wildness, so I will grow anything native that suits my area, focusing on Tallgrass Prairie, but I "play" near the house, even growing a few natives that aren't from Iowa.

The last seed mix I bought was called "Jungle Prairie". Not only are many species tall, they are some of the most aggressive natives. We planted an eighth of an acre and hope it spreads readily to nearby areas of the pasture.

Our dog seems to like Maximilian Sunflowers, but he'll have to find something else to chew on since we shrunk his fenced in area. He likes grasses, too and there's plenty of that.
