I like 1,2,3,4,5,6,7, and 8 Oh, I guess that's all of them Blinking Loving them all, and those multi-colored beards are awesome. Some really unique ones there for sure. I would be hard pressed to pick just one, that's for sure.

Brad, were there any duds that have bloomed that you didn't show us? It amazes me how many are unique and very choice looking.

Tom.. No plicatas yet Smiling but still have quite a few that have not bloomed so hopefully something else different from that cross it had everything else LOL ...Chestnut's Roasting is another one that has given some fun seedlings it has a lot of Joe's Reds in the background of it so I tried to use it with some of his newer Reds( Iconic) and got good results on the few that bloomed... next year try using the pollen it is very fertile I could not get it to set pods either and I tried a lot this year because it grows so well here. I think with the 2nd year of bloom you get to see exactly what it's going to do all those things can change except for color most of these had good branching and looked to be increasing well they just didn't have the buds, the one you liked only had 4 ..the last one of the bunch that was my favorite with all the pinks in it lacked the ruffles but it had everything else so hoping I can add some too it over time.

Mary Ann.. Thanks lot's of Pinks to come they are my favorite hopefully you make it in the spring to help me go through them all Smiling

Bonnie.. Thanks !! I agree its hard to come up with perfect plants it goes to show how skilled the big hybridizers are they take a long time to get something marketable .. for me It was awesome just to have my own to come home to and watch them bloom for the 1st time. I tried to learn from the process Smiling and find a few to use for parents that will pass on good qualities and hopefully get them in a bunch of different colors. I think what's fun about pollen daubing is that they don't have to fit anyone's standard other than your own most commercial gardens would have tossed these because they lacked buds or branching but when your doing this for your own entertainment none of the rest of that matters unless you want to market it and give them names then they must perform, but my goals are getting them to survive our winters and find some new color patterns with ruffles so they don't fall apart in our spring storms, my thinking is if it is unique and lives through -20 in January here I'll find a spot for it Big Grin

Rob.. Glad I could help Rolling on the floor laughing

Sherri.. He has some Outstanding plants and I am enjoying mixing them all together wait till you see whats coming from him in the next couple years Drooling

Les.. LOL no horns on that one but it did have some nice big beards and I loved that blend of colors on it.. I think the 1st one was my favorite..the pink flush through the standards really stood out and it did well through our heavy rain storms.

Debra.. Thanks Smiling I had a hard time choosing which one's to keep this was another cross that had a lot of good colors in it can't wait to see the rest of them.

Neal.. There are some that I don't have pictures of my daughter erased a couple weeks worth of pictures on accident.. luckily I had taken quite a few pictures and up loaded them on the computer already Shrug! but I don't have them all to share. I don't remember there being any duds in this cross they all had nice colors. I kept most of them for another year to look at them again and see how they grow.

Well, if you want to test that pink and orange one out here (or any of 'em!!)... I'm about mid-way between Joe's house and farm.. You could see how they'd perform in similar conditions.. Just sayin' Hilarious!

Seriously, I'm astounded. They're all breathtakingly beautiful. Gret job!! Hurray! Hurray!

Another plant I have really enjoyed is one of Barry's called (Just Witchery) it is the most ruffled plant I know of so was thrilled when it bloomed in 2013 Smiling I crossed it to a number of Joe's plants hoping for a bunch of different shades of pinks or white's with that form and although only 2 bloomed last year from the cross with Magical they both were a step in the right direction Smiling

Yes, you achieved some ruffles. Big Grin I like both, leaning toward the warmer colors of the second one. Thumbs up

Here I am -- just. blown. away. again.

Brad -- these are just wonderful, just just wonderful. If I did pollen-daubing, and these showed up in my garden, I would be dancing and squealing and all of my neighbors would then be certain that I had lost my mind (they already suspect it).

All I can say is that I hope that some of these meet your criteria for giving them a name and marketing them. The Iris world needs your Irises.

Love them all. Lovey dubby Lovey dubby Lovey dubby

Those ruffled pinks are just too beautiful!! Just Witchery has been on my wish list for a long time, just waiting for the price to go down. I bought Town Flirt from MidAmerica when it was newly introduced and it has never lived up to the pictures on MA nor the description. First bloom had only two standards and NO ruffles. It has not increased much and the last bloom was not much more ruffled. So disappointed.
Your pinks are just luscious!!!

This next cross with Magical surprised me it was done with Italian Master, it is another favorite here Barry described it as the prettiest seedling to come from Decadence in his catalog and it grows as good as anything here the flower is gorgeous but the branching is a little tight on it so I thought lets add a little Ghio blood to the mix and and see if we can't keep the same colors and improve the branching .. I expected to get some reds, pastels and maybe a Variegata out of the bunch but what bloomed so far were all Oranges Smiling no complaints here we Love Oranges

Really like the subtlety of the colors in photographs 3 and 4.
That last photograph is the one which caught my attention most strongly. I like the coloring (big surprise Hilarious! )--it has depth and looks textural without looking crepey or rough.

Debra... We can never have too many ruffles Big Grin preferrably in a wide assortment of color.

Maryann... LOL too funny Rolling on the floor laughing will see what the future brings no plans for that anytime soon there are lot's of beautiful things that are coming from Oregon and California that are the total package, wait until we get to the pictures from Joe's and Kieth's gardens Drooling you will have a lot to get excited about from them over the next couple years and I hope I can convince you to make a couple crosses yourself this spring at home Big Grin its a lot of fun and gives us all something to do and look forward to over the long winter months. If it wasn't for Paul sharing the process with us years ago on Cubits I would have never tried,(Thanks Again Paul !!) once I figured out how easy it really is I have had a blast watching them grow from a seed to bloom.

Barbara.. Thanks !!! Glad you like them

Jane.. That's disapointing I too have had plants act like that try digging it up next year and moving it too a different part of the garden it may perform better in a new location was really surprised this year after moving all my plants too there new home some that looked poor previously really took off and shocked me how much they increased and grew, some times all they need is some fresh dirt Smiling Do you have Magical yet if not remind me in the spring I will have plenty of it to share again and for ruffled pinks it's the one.

Richard.. LOL Thanks

Tom.. Just Witchery passes on it's form in all sorts of colors some of the best stuff that bloomed here came from it this year I Have high hopes for the rest of them that didn't bloom.

Brad, I haven't played around with pollen yet.. I suspect my record keeping would have to improve Hilarious! I had a couple of bee pods this year and was a little excited about trying to grow them... then my gardener cut them off Glare

I wish I'd known you were at our show. I would have liked to have said hello..
