I think the most I ever grew in one year was less than 10, probably 7 or 8.

See! That's what I should be doing! Of course I already ordered more for this year.

And the push is on for 2016. I am resisting thus far. When I see 'what remains' in January I may change my mind.

Yeah..............I keep ordering more *Blush*

Somehow I am having a hard time resisting this year. Between trades and purchases I have about 70 new ones coming in the spring. I may have to do some culling of older ones to find room, though I have already decided to give over my tomato patch to dahlias and only grow a couple of tomatoes elsewhere.

Well, already I have failed. Received a notice from Swan Island about their 2016 catalog and looked at it online. Twelve dahlias and $77 later ......Lots of collerettes. Still missed out on Blue Bayou. Sold out already??? Not how can that be.

Many sites have dahlias that are sold out already, not just Swan Island. It may suprise us but if they only have a dozen of a particular tuber, I'm sure it's possible.

I couldn't find Blue Bayou anywhere. Not surprised I guess as it is a particularly pretty flower. My dahlia from last year, Blue Belle, is the closest I have come to a real blue but still more lavender than blue.

I've had Blue Bayou but it never produced a lot of blooms.

Well, they are now out of stock. That's okay. The new pictures I have seen aren't as spectacular as the one at Hidden Springs. I suspect the one you have is more representative of it's true look.

I think I will just call my current order it. I may go down to look at the bags not that I can do anything about them now. But it will give me an order of magnitude for what I am facing come Mar-Apr.

Mine are spending the winter on the steps to the unfinished attic. I just checked and the temperature is 55, humidity 73%.

In spring I save the pieces I've cut off, so I can attempt to root them and get tubers, but they never amount to much. Last week I checked the 8 pots of cuttings and only two looked viable. I repotted with fresh soil, watered lightly and put them in the sunny kitchen bay window just to see if they'd grow. Time will tell. Then I found one clump of dahlias, no tag, in the shed. That also went to the same window to test how soon it will sprout, given the warm temperature and light. It's amusing what things dahlia people will do in winter.

I've been using all the self control that I have for spring orders. I've ordered several from Geoff but those will be out for me. Mine aren't looking too bad, so if they make it I'll have a lot to deal with next spring. I'll post what I have to offer later in the spring when I see how they're doing.

I have ordered way more new tubers this year than I have ever done before. Since I am selling some of my extras I have "free money", and at this point I have been trading consistently with many of the same people for 4 years, which means I don't have that many new ones to offer them anymore.

I have orders in from Honken Dahlias, Hollyhill Dahlias, Blossom Gulch, Lobaughs, and Cowlitz with a total of about 35, plus about that many more potentially coming in trades.

As usual - I don't know where they will all go, but I suspect I'll squeeze them in somehow.
