I love Agaves. I'd love to have a whole garden area devoted to them and barrel cacti and such. But it is not to be. I was however surprised at the cold temperatures alot of Agaves can take so long as they stay dry. So for now I'll keep them in pots and move them around as necessary. They can spend the rainy season next to the house where they are protected from rain under the eve but also get some decent sun exposure. But I would like to try one or two in the actual landscape with a mini winter greenhouse I can install over it if it gets really cold. I saw one growing outdoors unpotted at Perennial Obsessions. I asked about it and Cynda said it had been there for two years, but wasn't really sure if it was one year or two. I could believe one year since we had a mild winter but I found it hard to believe it had been out there during the previous brutal winter. Next year I will acquire an Agave 'Montana' and possibly a 'Gentryi'. Quite modest compared to my 2016 semp acquisition list. Whistling

Hmm, I wouldn't know about being obsessed with more than one plant, LOL!!!

At least I've limited my obsessions to hardy herbaceous perennials although I have to admit I made Pelargonium crosses this year too. after all, they have pollen!

They're here! So cute and tiny, I got them planted the day after I got my package. They were out of the 'Poco Loco' though.
So now they are planted in cactus mix, and set outside in my pseudo-greenhouse (pseudo, because the little plastic sheet 'panes' in the fabric of the greenhouse made it through only one Central CA summer before turning to dust)

I'm also tempted to 'adopt' a baby from an escheveria growing at work in one of our planter boxes, for my growing collection. Whistling

Ooh, you're going to love the warm fuzziness of Pacific Rim and the Jovi rollers are always a good addition to any collection. Enjoy them all, Diana! Smiling

Hurray! Wow!!!!
I love them. Makes me want to order some, but sadly this is our very wet season, and cold. So not a good time for me to start new babies.
But I can sure start making a list. Green Grin!
Great photos Diana.

We are flooding today, 2" of rain today and another 2" tomorrow, and lighter rains for at least the next week. Backyard is a swimming pool right now. Good thing I have those nice tall raised beds.

Guys came from the River of Life House and put sand bags down along the front of the property, so we are nice and dry around the house. Hurray!
Just love those guy. Lovey dubby

All safe, hi and dry. Water surrounding us, but it can't get to the yards around the house. Hurray!

Yes, stay dry Lynn! Is it wetter because of El Nino, or is it 'the usual' for Oregon?

We usually have one heavy rain episode sometime in December, then again about the end of January.

The "El Nino" forecast for our winter was to be wet and warm. So far... I can't disagree. I think last night I could have sailed a boat down the street in front of my house wearing a t-shirt.
