Got it. They are really large plants then. I wish I had an Apopka close by. Heck, I just wish our Lowe's carried some of the great stuff that y'all see daily. I guess I would have to build another greenhouse though............and I would be single. Whistling

Same with our Lowe's, vandas fly off the rack fast, so no clearance. I got another blue one a couple weeks ago that was almost done blooming and I only got $10 off plus my additional 10% discount.

the one I recently posted was in bloom with unopened buds and large and with my discount was only $27.

I think I just got lucky at my Lowe's. I had never seen a Vanda discounted before so I jumped on it. But I think Jim is probably right, you can get better deals all day long in Apopka, because you're buying from the growers.

Ibis, that beautiful Vanda of yours is similar to my Vanda Pachara Delight blue. I have 2 of them now.

When I did the plants at Lowe's ( I worked for Metrolina the nursery ..and merchandised the plants at 3 Lowe's) each store had a different approach to markdowns...one store would often mark entire carts just unloaded from the truck half price. The orchids all got marked down after a week..If they didn't sell for 50% in that second week they went in the trash. Another store waited for everything to be dead before they marked it down...

sometimes I would suggest markdowns...and sometimes they would listen. Here in Tampa anyway, it seems to be the same story...but I don't see too many orchids getting marked down!
I have just started with Vanda's and am looking forward to repeat blooms!

Cute pic of you, Lindsey!

We are home again, and my new Vanda coerulea from Apopka has burst into bloom while I was away.

Over in the Den department, all my $3 plants from Apopka that I bought for gifts are in full bloom. Guess I'd better give 'em away pretty soon, huh? I might have to keep the last one, I really love the flower shape and white picotee edge.

Weather's forecast to get cooler this week, so again I'm thinking about "what to do" to keep the warm growers warm. But I'm so very thankful that it stayed nice most of this week, and the nights were warm. We even got a little rain!

Lovely color on those vandas Ibis & Gigi.

Wow Jim, your plants are stunningly beautiful!

Elaine your orchids are really pretty. You guys are lucky to be so close to Apopka. Haven't seen prices like those in the redlands.

Just wished this rain would stop. It's been going on since Thursday .

Thank You! Ursula!
I agree I like that picture of you Lindsey. I won't be able to bring any money home if I work anywhere there are plants Rolling on the floor laughing

Jim, Ursula, Lindsey, Patty and Ellaine's collection are all beautiful. I don't know of anyone with the variety you guys have.

I am just happy if I see any of my cheap no ID orchids in bloom.

I was watching the Florida radar while on vacation and whew! You really have been clobbered by rain down there in South Florida, Brenda. So crazy for December to be that wet.

Ken, maybe next year you'll make my $3 Dendrobium list . . . IF you're really nice, and not too naughty.

Elaine, you sure scooped some pretty Dens over in Apopka..I've done well actually giving the plants in bud
to their recipients ...so I only got to see a couple bloom. Still have 3 Phals to give away and one Onc.
Brenda, my sister lives just south of Miami..they are getting ready to launch an Ark ..from their swimming
pool..maybe they have room for one more? We were going to meet halfway ( Ft. Meyers) the other day so I could hand off the plants I bought for her on our Apopka trip..but the driving conditions were just too dangerous.

Bc Princess Teresa 'Princess Michiko' opens the first of three spikes. The pink will intensify a bit more the next days, the scent is lovely already.

So pretty, Ursula. Funny that some flowers develop more color as they age, while others fade to more delicate shades.

I'd forgotten all about Blc. Punakea blooming away up high in the cage. Putting on a nice show now with more buds ready to pop.

Welcome! Brenda! I really love the look of your Catt in this basket. Mine are mounted on the oak tree, maybe I need to pluck them out and put them in hanging baskets in spring. I'm just scared I will damage the roots.
