Cinta, that comes under "Plan D".............NONE OF THE ABOVE..................LOLOL

Julia, I love anything that is in a 20 inch pot or bigger and weighs more than me. Don't think that is a birdcage option. Rolling on the floor laughing

Cinta, if I decide that the bird cage is just "too much" for me to deal with, I will put your name on the short list as to who to send it to. Bwahahahahaha............. Rolling on the floor laughing

Not exactly the same but you can get the idea.... a pretty asparagus or foxtail fern would look nice.... would grow tall to fill the inside and through the bars to spill out...

I hate losing plants....I know they are "just plants" but when you nurse them along and baby them and get them to grow, bloom, and be pretty and they die....it's like losing a friend..... Crying

The bars on my cage are quite a bit closer than what is shown in your pix, Kim. I know the foxtails wouldn't be able to grow out through them.

Everybody has such great ideas..............thanks to all of you. And now I suppose you are ALL wanting birdcages. LOL

Yes I have been looking for one since I saw the one that I posted with the succulents.

Anne the one like you have can be purchased new for about 800.00. I bet new though it would not be as nice. The new cages are only a step above aluminum foil. I was going to buy my bird a new cage for Christmas but I think he would destroy the flimsy stuff they are selling these day.

I imagine my felines would LOVE it if I got birds. I have never really had much of a desire to ever have birds. I don't think Killdeer would adapt very well to cages. Green Grin!

my cat does not have a problem problem smacking the dog and but he runs from the bird,

The bird even gets on the floor and taunts the cat and gets in his face and sticks out his chest as if to say "You want a piece of me?" If the cat moves he flaps his wings and will fly over the cats head and he takes off to running away.

How about an Ivy. There are tons of different varieties a small leaf type would spill out and hang down plus you could train some to go up the cage if you wanted to.

There's a rusty old bird cage down in an old dump on the place which I've been meaning to rescue and see if it can be salvaged enough to use. Not nearly as nice as this one. I think if I do it I'll try to use Pilea microphylla commonly known as Artillery Fern as the base planting for something else. I think it's a good thing I live in an area that's cold enough to kill the P. microphylla because it comes up all over the place. Clearly not a native to this part of the world, though, because there aren't any thorns and it doesn't sting you if you touch it.
