I guess I was unclear about the best of show voting. I see some categories are missing, like fruits and vegetables. Maybe I missed it though. Shrug!

Hmm..now I'm going to have to make room for gourds. I wonder if they're a host plant for any kind of caterpillar? Rolling on the floor laughing Seriously, that is a gorgeous photo. I do remember making it one of my three in the initial round of voting. Thumbs up

I wondered what that one was! Really striking photo! Hope someone will tell just which gourd produced that gorgeous bloom. Smiling

I have Chinese Cucumber (Trichosanthes kirilowii) with a similar flower. I'm sure it's a common attribute of the genus.

So is this an edible fruit? Not that I really care, but it's not clear if all species of Trichosanthes are edible.

Apparently it is.
I've been checking it out a bit and have read that people do eat the shoots, leaves, and immature fruit, but only the pulp of the mature fruit.

FYI, The photo of the snake gourd blossom has already been disqualified from the contest. You can vote for another photo, now, if you already voted for that photo.

It is very unfortunate that this travesty was not discovered before the initial category voting began, but, better late than way too late!

Let's move on!
