Untitled in Avoid Hot Spots for Ferns

Plant ferns away from the foundation of a house if that foundation gets hot afternoon sun. Bricks and concrete retain heat and too much heat kills most ferns.

I love ferns, and was told that they "don't grow in Calgary". I've seen yards where they not only grow, but they sucker across the yard lol Beautiful........

Again - when we moved to Calgary, another gardener told me HE was told that Oak trees don't grow here, so he went right out and planted 12 of them - doing fine, last I heard and that was about 10 years after planting
