I thought the name really clever too.

And some interesting tidbits about the I. aphylla parent here:

I really like it too, that blush of bronze in the throat gives it such richness. It is said to grow 18" tall- I like that too.

Any clues as to what to expect growth wise? It looks for all the world like a SDB, I'm assuming culture is the same?

I only grow one SPX....Paltec.....and was told by the vendor it would 'grow with the bearded'. I do have it in a bed with slightly more 'acid" soil (it's in with the SIB's ,JI's, & LA's), but, it seems to do as well as the NOID bearded that are planted there Shrug!

Oh, I forgot the prefix with Paltec- I've got that one! I have it in a bed with several other bearded and it looks great. Just planted it this year, but it has put on lots of increases.

Oh -- that explains it -- I thought they were talking about the red Iris. Rolling my eyes. Sheesh.

Thanks, Arlyn.

Enjoys or suffers cold winters
It is funny, but when we were trying Aphilated, it only had 3 buds for us. I am not sure why. It does beautifully other places. I have a seedling with aphylla (one of John;s X a Zurbrigg TB). Lloyd very kindly sent me the pollen. I have not figured out where to go from there.

Lucy, how long does pollen last when sent? Are those little glassine bags used for storing pollen?
