Wondering if anyone out there in ATP land might grow either of these iris ? Both by Sanford Babson, and both introduced by Melrose Gardens (Ben Hager & Sid DuBoise). Comentary in '63, and Cambodia in "66. If you happen to have a copy of either the '63, or the '66 Melrose catalog.....and would do a "look up" for me, that would really help !
There are some pics of Cambodia on the web, but I haven't located any of Comentary.....Thanks

Sorry, Arlyn. I don't grow either of those and due to the flood in 2013 I lost a LOT of old priceless books and catalogs so no help there either.

Cambodia is the child of Commentary, right? They look very similar.

I think I must have posted a photo from a gardener's scrapbook. Ruby kept
a record of everything she grew in the 60's and 70's. I got a lot of un-named
rhizomes from her once - but I don't think I have this one. It's a mystery to me!

Yes, they are "mother and child", Leslie.

I noticed your picture, and actually sent a link to the person who asked me to get the information for her, Jan, and also contacted Brett (I see he was the only one with it in his 'plant list'), hoping he had some photos.

This deal really illustrates some of the ID problems one runs into.........."Mother and child" irises (or sibling irises, in some cases) with only a slight difference in beard color, and width of the falls (at the haft), so, with out *accurate* descriptions and *good* close-up photographs........you are left with trying to grow BOTH, for a close examination !
