This doen not look like an R. auriculata to me, the leaves are too broad. Compare with the foto from treehugger. It is not R. purpurea either but looks like a crossing between them.

from the way this photo is shot, I can not see enough of the leaves to determine. I know that the botanical garden the photo was taken at have listed both R. purpurea and R. auriculata as having been on display there, but other than that I'm unsure.
