It had been growing beautifully, then through my own neglect it looked terrible so I cut it back completely. It's been indoors since mid November and has bounced back very well.

My question is: do I stop watering and allow it to go dormant or can it continue to grow on a very sunny indoor porch that is unheated?

I can't say for sure. I cut mine back and stuck it in the pump room where I store my dahlias. No idea if it will work or not.

I've read they form tubers and should be stored like dahlias. Maybe I'll find out the hard way that I should let them go dormant.

Arlene, how is your Lofos doing? I didn't recognize the name of the plant, and just realized I know it as asarina. I grew a different cultivar, but did bring one in for winter a few years ago. It was happy and grew surprisingly well indoors and even bloomed sporadically. When moved back outside the next spring it took right off.

I'm so glad you spotted the thread, Neal, and twice as happy to hear of your report. Thank you. Mine is still doing quite well on the porch. Did you cut yours back at all as you waited for spring? I'm tempted to give it a haircut.

The plants that came in for winter were growing up the stems of a brugmansia, which I kept somewhat dry in winter, and the leaves started drying and falling which lead to my cutting it back. That was probably about this time of year when I cut it back. After that it came right back, so I don't think giving it a haircut will hurt a bit.

I figured a hair cut couldn't hurt it and would probably make it even more lush.

Glad I found your post.
I saw Lofos in the nursery , just took couple cuttings and they grew very well in the pot.
I wanted to know if anyone succeeded saving it overwinter.
I assume you grew it in sunny window?
I hate to see things Dying and bring way too many plants indoors....problem is controlling bugs as well as falling leaves.
Can Lofos be sprayed with insecticidal soap prior bringing it indoors?

Welcome, Flowerslover. I'm sure it can be sprayed but my sunny indoor porch seems to encourage some pests. I must have brought it in but it didn't survive the winter.
