To clarify the dibs numbers. It is always a set amount. If you set the multiplier at 3 then on day two you will get 6 on day three 9, day four 12 etc. But as you said you can change it manually at any time during the swap.

This is true. Thank you for the clarification, Jay. I tip my hat to you.

I would pack any loose change so that the coins can't rattle audibly against each other or be felt through the sides of a bubble mailer.

USPS urges people not to send cash through the mail, so their mail handlers won't be tempted. It's rare, but I have heard of packages being stolen inside post offices. In at least one case, they eventually got the repeat thief on camera and fired his butt.

Many people use the Flat Rate Priority boxes so they don't have to weigh it and stand in line at the PO. Since all flat rate boxes have tracking numbers, I think they get lost less often. Certainly the boxes don't get torn up as often as bubble mailers.

With the flat rate box, the tracking and box are free, unlike bubble mailers. I used to use bubble mailers to save the dollar or so overall cost difference, then realized that I was spending money on gas, plus time spent in line at the PO. I might go back to bubble mailers after retiring, when a dollar and an hour will be closer in value.

I'm curious . . . has everyone used *every* ticket they have received (previous to the ones just received)?

Do you think most everyone uses (or will use) all their tickets?

I didn't use all of my tickets for the beta swap and I'm pretty certain I won't use all of mine for this swap, either. Fortunately, though, I am able to 'adopt' more seeds than I otherwise might because I am doing some as little gifts to others...I have a good friend who just moved to Florida and I'm giving her a few seed packs as part of a housewarming gift; I also have two neighbors who are a little older who are both just getting their gardens started. Each of them came over to my yard several times last summer to ask about my gardens and to pick my brain about how they might start their own. Sweet people. I have such great neighbors. Lovey dubby ...so anyway, I'm going to give some of my seeds to them to help them on their way to a lush garden-scape in their yards.)

Dnd, that is so lovely! They will cherish those flowers forever. At least I know I would. I'm going to love walking around my yard this summer and smiling everytime I see one of these plants in my garden. Which will be alot. Smiling I'll always remember my first swap here so sweetly. Thanks ya'll for making it a great swap for me.

>> I want to grow them , Not look at baggies

Just coining that phrase should be worth several tickets all by itself!

I used every ticket promptly up to today, even though I had intended to hold off longer on some to give others a better chance to dibs them.

So far today, I still have 7+ tickets burning a hole in my pocket. But some of those might be "look-at ZipLocs" not "plant-right-away seeds". And vanity makes me hope I can get my "sold" number above my "bought" number.

From the number-changes I've noticed, I think lots of us are still rushing to request seeds right at the moment more tickets are released. I like the fact that Dave sends out reminders when "ATP Standard Time" reaches midnight (Greenwich time?)

I am still choosing from my original "wish list" Missed a few ,, Got most ,, I wil choose the so called "leftovers" slower At the moment I have 41 sold and 47 chosen , I might have chosen one to many . I am not sure ,, I may have 2 or 3 more than I thought , Like said , that is what edits are for ,,
Tomorrow a easy 60 . is a lot of seeds to grow ,,

Actually, I think Dave's software tells us when we get greedy and impatient and try to request more trades than we have tickets. I think I saw some "No-no!" message when I tried to request a packet too many.

The 'extra' varies each night. The first night you get .5 tickets for each one you 'sell' but after that it tapers off. I don't memorize the fraction/decimal that each night is worth, but I do know that after the first couple of nights, it's pretty tough to earn a full bonus ticket, but by that point you are getting so many tickets given to you that it's not really necessary. That's the beauty of how it all works. The primary benefit to the bonus tickets, in my opinion, is to reward people who have listed great (i.e. popular) items so that they are able to get more dibs (better pick) early on as a result. There are some quirky inadvertent results that occur, so there is some strategy to it all as well, but overall the system rewards the people who have more attractive offerings.

Nice! That's a good idea, too. Hindsight is 20/20, but I wish I had done that.

My 'sold' is hovering a little less than my 'bought', so I hope some people were saving some of my seeds until last since I had multiple packets of almost everything. I'm hoping my 'sold' exceeds by 'bought' by the end of the swap period. If not, though, I have plans for finding the leftover seeds homes. Smiling

@DogsNDaylilies It's a good thing I keep a few. I get down to about five and check the rest of my list. 1 star is stuff I bought or has 0 packets left, 2 star is 4 packs or more, 3 star is 3 packs, 4 star is 2 packs and 5 stars is 1 pack left. That way I can keep track. Go through my list and make sure the 3 stars has 3 packs...if not I might bid on it so I don't loose it Smiling I have about 11 on my wishlist that you have listed nodding
