What happens after the swap with our list of available seeds? Does it stay or do we have to enter that all over again?

If it helps, I just got some babys breath from you Dnd. Should go nicely with bxncbx's baby breath. There's a few more things I'll be getting from you as well. Just out of tickets. *Blush* Thanks!

Good question!

It stays in your list, available for future swaps, but you will have to checkmark it green for future swaps to give it the 'go ahead', just like you did for this swap.

I too think that was a good question that LittleCheryl posted because I wondered myself if I did a future swap if I would have to create a whole new list all over again, or if I could start with the current one. So I'm glad to hear my list of swap seeds remains.

I guess the number remaining really is the number you started with, minus the number requested and sent out.

But I didn't want to offer EVERY packet I own of a variety into every swap. I might have 20 of something, and want to put 5 pkts into each swap I join. So the number remaining after each swap is not the same as what I have left "in stock".

I may be using "My Swap List" differently from how Dave intended. But I wish there was one column for "My Total # of packets". Then putting "N" into a swap would subtract "N" from My Total, and when the swap was over, the number remaining would be added back to "My Total".

I should start doing that offline so I don't have to re-count for each swap! But at least re-counting assures me I haven't lost that whole tub in the meanwhile!

What I did was I created two entries, one for the current swap at the time, and one for the future. You can use this a couple of different ways, but what I used both of my listings for swaps, one was the beta and the other was for the the 'January swap', which was this swap. I did this as a reminder to myself of what I want to make sure I list as well as a count or reminder of how many packets of that I had left so I didn't really have to recount at the beginning of this swap.

Instead of having different listings be for different swaps, you could also have one listing always be a general swap listing and the other act as your personal inventory count, if you wanted.

I do wish there was the ability to 'duplicate record', but ! Without looking at it, I don't think there currently is. Maybe that's something you could suggest to Dave for the future.

Hmm, different rows instead of different fields. That's an idea!

I was thinking of asking Dave if we could one "dummy swap" created. It would never actually allow swapping, never start and never end. But then we could use THAT swap to hold out "inventory" totals.

But really, if I want to keep track of the total number of packets in my stash, I should probably do that separately from Dave's swap system.

Dnd, I am packing up my seeds and the thought just occurred to me that while I'm sending in seed packets, I'm going to receive way more. Are you going to reuse the envelopes we send the seeds in to send back our seeds? If so, I'm going to need a larger envelope. Just wondering about which I should pack the seeds in. Thanks.

Good question.

Your packages that you send in will NOT be reused. I will be sending most or all of these back in flat-rate boxes or envelopes that I pick up at the post office. Only use what is appropriate to send your 'sold seeds' and fee in. If you use a paper envelope, you may want to find a way to make sure no one knows there is money in it...maybe extra paper or something?...if you're sending coins, you could tape them to the paper so they don't jingle around.
