That is where I posted my other photo of this plant. It was a gift to me from a northern Minnesota property owner.

C. calceolus has a single flower per stem C. parviflorus can have multiple flowers per stem. Hope that helps. I tip my hat to you.

According to kew.org, cypripedium calceolus is distributed throughout Europe. It is commonly known as European Lady's Slipper and is not found in Minnesota, or at least is not native to Minnesota.

So why do you have a photo of this same flower as two different species? Cypripedium has a parent page for all that are not properly ID. As I look further into your dilemma it seems there is much confusion about these and others that even the experts disagree about. Good luck with this. I love the all the Slipper Orchids. Yours is quite a beauty. I tip my hat to you.

Someone else posted this to calceolus pursuant to the posting contest. There is confusion about these flowers so I did some checking to see if I had been mistaken about the identification. Since this came from virgin woods in northern Minnesota, I believe my original I.D. is correct and it is not calceolus.

I agree with you. It's the most likely. I opted out of the posting contest because some of the photos I've posted for say ID purposes were not good photos. Had I thought so I would have done so. Yours is a great photo. You should propose that your other photo be moved and that may spur other input as to the correct ID. Just a thought. Or Email the person who posted it. Thanks Jeanie. I tip my hat to you.
