I searched this one since I've never heard this before and it showed images of a light pink plumeria. Then I search Florida colors and "Cancun Pink" has so many aka and one of it is Peggy Higdon. So should this be combined in Cancun Pink. Under "sold as Peggy Higdon".

Good observation. Peggy Higdon is a registered Plumeria so that should be the main name. I will look into this. Thanks Gigi.

Is that why all the plumerias I bought from Home Depot have silly names which I think are AKA's

Lipstick, Pacific Pearl, Lavender Splash
and the pic below which calls it Cancun Dreams

Yeah some nurseries come up with their own names. Very annoying.

The name thing is very confusing. I'm naive about this I suppose. Is there a source/publication for plumeria names?

There is an international registry with registered, official names. That doesn't stop some nurseries to come up with their own names. This Peggy Higdon is variously known as Cancun Pink and also Playful. I agree, it annoys the heck out of me too.

So, if a person did not know Peggy Higdon, Cancun Pink and Playful were the same, they could have three of the same plant with different names. Not that it would be BAD to have three of the same beautiful plant For me, at this point, I am interested in growing plumeria of different types and not multiples of the same type.

You are right Lucky. Our Home Depot sells plumerias but they don't put names on it.

If the plumerias are grown from seed, you can give it silly names because it is a new variety and it is all yours

That is exactly right which is why it is such a bad idea to give existing plants new names.
But Gigi is right, if you have a seedling it will be a new variety and you can name it yourself.

I did find Plumeria (Plumeria rubra 'Lavender Splash') in our database but no listing for Lipstick, Pacific Pearl or Cancun Dreams ... I wonder if those are a/k/a's or sold as names?

I know Lipstick is a re-name, I think by C-Stars. Pacific Pearl is an existing Plumeria name. I think Cancun Dreams is also by C-Stars. I'm not aware of aka's for these so feel free to add them (and get the acorns... )

I think in the beginning we received an acorn if we added a new plant to the database but now we only receive acorns for adding photos or data details. http://garden.org/special/acor...

I will still go and add them if you say they are legitimate plant names.
