@DogsNDaylilies - The watermelon radish is Oriental Radish (Raphanus sativus 'Mantanghong') I have two packs listed in case the others couldn't find theirs.

The database entry has no description, but gives the synonym "Daikon Radish" for Oriental Radish (Raphanus sativus 'Mantanghong') . Is yours long like a carrot and white, or a globe with red flesh inside a white rind?

The varieties that I was growing for clay-busting were actually these Daikon varieties (long and white). I haven't grown the watermelon radishes yet.

The watermelon radish I am familiar with its white on the outside (although I've seen green in pictures, too) with a red inside.

I was miffed that the database calls it "Red Meat", but whaddayagonnado?

I'm tempted to change my own name to Humpty-Dumpty and then rename many plants, especially Brassica rapa cultivars the way I want them named, but then no one would know what I was talking about.

I thought that was a less appetizing name for a radish, too, but oh well. Sticking tongue out

Maybe some gardener's spouse complained about all the vegetables on the table, and demanded more 'red meat".

"Here you go, Honey, a whole plateful of Watermelon Radishes ... I mean, 'Red Meat'!"

Just a reminder to everyone that today into tomorrow is your last chance for the swap, so I recommend that you all double-check the seeds in the swap and make sure you didn't miss any that you want.

The trading ends tomorrow evening. ALL tickets for this swap have now been given out, so make your final bids carefully! (You are allowed up to 120 total seed packs.)

I hope you all have had a great week with this! ...I am so excited for the next one already! It may be months away, but this swap has been like a gardener's Christmas...it has excitement, 'gifts', friends, it's kind of even family-like in our group...and the seeds will bring about good food! Hilarious!

This has been interesting I hope my choices work out ,and all of yours also , I was going to stop at 60 or 70 ,, and I picked over 90 , Over 80 of mine got picked not bad for me ,, Yes I'm selfish talking ,
I will look back through your packages , and see seeds and such , Some I would like to add more unto , I don't like doing doing 6 or 7 seeds as trades unless their hybrids or really difficult or Tomato seeds and such ,

I believe the first seeds I planted I did not ID because when they get larger I will recognize them , one of the seedlings, it has frozen a couple times with it's two little sprout leaves showing ,
It folds up it's leaves and rolls it's stems down to the earth , I can't see it when it freezes and rolls back to the earth , then when the sun shines , it's there again , Some things are fun to watch ,

I love onions myself. Just like you, raw, creamed, any way you want it. I cook with onion in almost everything. When my husband and I were dating he told me he hated them and would never eat them. I told him that he better find himself another woman because I would never cook a meal without them. He now loves them as much as I do and feels like something is missing if I cook without them. Hilarious!

It's never too late! I have TONS of chard and lettuce and Bok Choy and Chinese cabbage, just let me know if you wish you had requested anything else in my list. (This is called "Pimping My Seeds".)

(I'm imagining some photos of your yard, Before And After. Maybe using Dave's "multi-plant-tagging" gizmos so you could show either WHAT plants are growing Where, or maybe Who those particular seeds came from!

Ooo. I'll check that out. I just finished getting more jugs ready since we had a thaw today. And next is deciding what goes where. I've made my list of seeds and who gave them so I'll be able to post pics later of what ya'll did for me.

As far as your seeds, I was so busy getting flowers I ran out of dibs to get more of your seeds. If you would like to pick some out for me I will love the surprise. I cook Chinese food from scratch so that will definitely come in handy. I love the way they eat. So healthy. It's no wonder the Chinese are so small. Hilarious! Plus we really love veggies here. As long as we have cornbread we don't have to eat meat.

Sure thing. I've run low on snow peas and snap peas, but may have some of those, too.

Otherwise it will focus on what I have plenty of: Brassica greens and lettuce and chard.
